  1. Anamorphic Knights is short film (test) using a Kowa 8z Anamorphic lens adapter combined with a Blackmagic 4K Production Camera. I've been looking at much older camera systems for a good few years now. Recently picked up a Blackmagic Production Camera 4K and started with this first test. Is it me or does the image feel a lot more organic/analogue like compared to newer cameras? Be great to hear your thoughts.

  3. Hey, i want to know your thoughts considering does Blackmagic planning to announce in 2020/21 a successor of a bmpcc6k camera?
  4. Hey guys, I have a SpeedBooster for the Pocket and the Micro for sale, Canon EF lens version. Asking price is 450€ I'm in Italy and I can ship to Europe for fair prices and even WW if needed (postal or UPS). BTW I also have a brand new Wooden Camera cage for the BMMCC plus the Wooden Camera PL Mount Pro kit for it in another thread.
  5. Hey everybody, I'm considering investing in a 12mm cine lens for my BMPCC and while browsing I've come across the Kowa Prominar Micro Four Thirds lenses. They don't have geared focus rings, but do feature both F-stops and T-stops interestingly enough. Does anybody have experience with these lenses? All the footage and photos I've seen from them are quite lovely, but would they really be worth the extra money I might spend on them versus, say, a Rokinon or SLR Magic cine lens?
  6. Hey everyone. I just bought a used original BMPCC, but need to acquire cards for it. Apparently, SanDisk has updated their Extreme Pro Cards and the new version isn't compatible with the camera, so I'm scrambling trying to find the old version. Even internet sellers who have it listed as the old version turn out to be selling the new ones. If anyone is willing to part with a 64GB or 128GB card that they've successfully used with the BMPCC or has the product prefix SDSDXP, please let me know.
  7. Shot this little short film on an original BMPCC + Kowa 8z Anamorphic Adapter. Color graded to taste. Hope you enjoy :)
  8. Good afternoon everyone, I have a run & gun gig coming up in the foreseeable future for which I'd like to give the new BMPCC 4K a shot (I don't technically own one yet, but hopefully will reasonably soon). Due to the job's specific nature, I will require an extremely lightweight and portable setup. I've done similar work in the past and always suffered from having to work with primes (both in terms of weight and overall practicality), so this time I decided I'd rather stick with a single zoom for the entirety of the shoot. On a full-frame camera I would probably just opt for the Sigma 18-35 f1.8, but being the new BM Pocket M4/3, I don't think that would give me enough range to handle a broad enough variety of situations. I've done a little bit of research for suitable options and found that quite a few people seem to be praising the Olympus 12-40 f2.8 M.Zuiko PRO as a good one for video. Has anyone here had any experience with it? Or would you know of any interesting alternative covering the same/similar range (24-80 equivalent)? I've also read that a few people appear to be very happy with C-mount vintage options, such as the Angenieux 12-120mm f2/2 (amazing range and constant aperture) but it weights a ton and the whole point is to retain flexibility while shooting. Also another set of issues that I've had with vintage Angenieux in the past has included very noticeable chromatic aberrations, heavy breathing and vignetting (all things that I would want to avoid for this project). However, if you're aware of any vintage lens that might fit the bill I'd be more than open to consider it. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me, as I could gladly use some. Wish you all a lovely rest of your day and thank you for having taken the time Best, Filippo
  9. Hello all - I'm completely new to these forums, and already excited to start delving deep into all the information here. Just wanted to share a trailer for my feature, DON'T. STOP. RUNNING. which, as is often the way with microbudget indies - I wrote, directed AND shot... Never again...! I used a BMPCC and a range of M43, C Mount, M42 and Arri B-mount secondhand and new lenses, and was amazed to see the quality we could get from that little camera. We shot, for the most part, outside in a British summer (occasional bits of sunshine interspersed with long periods of slate grey skies) with just a sun direction app, a couple of reflectors and an Artem smoke gun. I'd love to know what people think of the trailer - a bit of feedback and critique is the best way of learning! Thanks, Alex.
  10. Not to be confused with a ‘stylized look' LUT – I created the BozBMDFilm_to_Rec709 Utility LUT to bring out the organic contrast and color values captured by the BMCC / BMPCC in Film LOG or RAW modes. In addition, the LUT strives to preserve highlight and shadow detail [with emphasis on softer highlight roll off] while safeguarding image quality and integrity. [RAW video by John Brawley] Though it's not free, It's still cheaper than a Golden Arches Meal and definitely worth a look even if it's just to see more examples of how the LUT works. 11. I've been working with video as an amateur now for 5 years. After I graduated college last year I decided it was time to move from a DSLR to a more cinema oriented body. I went with the Canon C100 and thanks to a grant I won in my last semester, I was able to purchase the Atomos Ninja Blade 2 as well. Right now, I am working as a DP on a small-budget horror feature. After this is through, I have my projects I'd like to embark on, BUT I may lose the Ninja Blade (because the grant was through the school and they want to/have the right to keep it). I understand this severely limits the recording capability of the C100. I read a thread the other night on this forum discussing the Blackmagic Pocket Cam. Now, I am wondering if I've made a mistake choosing the C100. Or if maybe the BMPCC would make my projects cheaper to achieve as I'm yet to purchase any of my own glass or rigging for the C100. My problem, I suppose, is this: Do I press on with the C100 and buy rigging and some glass for it (and unfortunately a new Ninja Blade) or do I liquidate and invest in the BMPCC and some glass for it? Or do I just sit tight with what I have and rent until I have enough money for something substantially better than either?

  14. Check it out - new video on my Vimeo channel! This is a short story about our Trip to Oahu island! It was our first visit to Hawaii. A lot of people think Oahu is pretty boring and they know the only one interesting place there - Waikiki area. But the most beautiful things you can find only out of Waikiki.) We called out trip - «All in 5 days» and I think we've visited most of best places on the island. It was really awesome! Oahu! We love you! And we will back!) 15. Hello all, I use a BMPCC with an Angenieux 12-120mm f/2.5 lens; to attach the lens, I use an Arri-pl mount. Now, I have an issue with this lens, and I'm not sure if it can even be solved: I get an out of focus picture when the zoom distance is below 20mm while at an aperture below f/5.6. No matter how much I adjust the focus ring, the picture is entirely out of focus. Is this natural for which the lens does not work with the Blackmagic's sensor, or am I just a special case and there's something wrong with my lens? Thanks, John
  16. Hello all, So I film on the Blackmagic Pocket Cam, which is infamous for how fast it heats up. Now I've never had a problem with it overheating, I have generally been filming in A/C cooled indoor areas. However, I'm beginning production for an upcoming film, and most of the filming will be done outside... oh, and lest I forget, I happen to live in the great state of Texas where the average Summer temp. is around 96 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm a little worried about it overheating in the outdoor temperatures. So my question is: how do you keep a camera cooled down without damaging it with ice/water?
  17. Hello all, As I've been expanding my crew and becoming more involved with just directing actors, I've been looking to buy an external monitor for my BMPCC so I won't have to work back and forth to check shots. My question is, do any of you guys have a suggestion for an external monitor for the Blackmagic that is under the price of $200? Thanks! John
  18. Does a Sony F3 still make sense to people in 2015? Because have you seen on eBay lately just how cheap they're going? :-o You can pick up a Sony F3 for similar pricing to a new BMCC. The expensive SxS media puts me off, but this appears to be an easy way to avoid that expense: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/786662-REG/Sonnet_SD_SXS_E34_SDHC_Adapter_for_SxS.html For the only extra grand or so over the cost of an AF100 or FS100 it would seem like an F3 is worth it if you're looking for an older large sensor camcorder on the ultra cheap. (as I've been seriously looking into getting an AF100 for only a grand, just so I can have an "impressive" pro looking camera to impress the brides/guests and wedding shoots, with the rest of my kit being 1x GH4 + 1x GH2 + 2x GH1. I know images is all that should matter, and appearances shouldn't matter, but in real life first impressions do matter. If a few extra hundred dollars to get an AF100 over GH2 with the same image quality, then leads to more bookings, that it is money very well spent. But then this logic dangerously leads me down the path to spend even more on a Sony F3... as then I could use the F3 on serious jobs too) For context, I also own a kitted out BMPCC (that I love love) but it can look like a glorified smartphone to some people :-/ (until they see the images produced! But again, first impressions do matter and last)
  19. For sell a Zeiss SuperSpeed 9.5mm T1.3 S16, a great luminous wide angle cine lens. I sell it because i search a zoom instead of primes. Price is 900 Euros + shipping. Regarding the state of the optics there is no mushroom / fungus / dust inside. There are slight "cleaning marks" on the glass, as well on the front and rear element, obviously not affecting the image. But there is no claw or crack on the glass. I bought it for a French DP who took great care. Cosmetically really in good condition, the paint and the numbers / lettering are there. The aperture ring is very fluid, the focus ring is less fluid, a little harder, but it doesen't affect the focus at all, change focus is easy. Super Speeds are among the best Super 16 lens and they have been used on many feature films. The resulting image is still impressive today. This is a test that I realized with the Blackmagic Pocket: https://vimeo.com/129887125 I am at your disposal for any additional questions, optic can be seen in Belgium. The lens is Arri Bayonet mount, also i sell the adapter Arri Bayonet to MFT from Ciecio7 for 90 euros extra. This adapter is one of the best available adapter and is shimmable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arri-Bayonet...-/251176724708
  20. Angenieux Zoom Type 4x17.5B - 17.5-70mm F 2.2 With Arri Standard Mount (Comes with an adapter to M4/3) Asking Price $670 which I feel is fair The lens is used of course serial number 1211645 Has some superficial marks on the rear element, no fungus or marks on the inside lens. The iris blades are a shinny, no oil marks. The focus barrel has no play and is very easy to turn, might be a downside to some people the zoom feels butter smooth and the iris does not click. The adapter is fine but if you wanted to you could get a better one from ebay or something, but it does the job. I believe this is the only zoom that covers a s16 sensor, of course it works on the BMPCC. It is really a nice lens, I just don't use it enough, for my shooting style. I am just gonna stick to primes :) Paypal and I will only ship to verified accounts. PM me to discuss further. Shipping is from San Diego CA
  21. Hey there, I own a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera with a Metabones Speedbooster on it. Now I am a lucky man, because I am able to get my hands on a set of Zeiss Superspeeds Mark 1 & 2 glass, which I would love to use on my BMPCC for shooting fiction films. I know it is possible to buy a PL mount for the BMPCC MFT mount to PL, but how does this work with the Speedbooster in between? The speedbooster converts the MFT mount to Canon EF, and reduces the crop factor to 1.7. Would it work nicely if I just buy a EF to PL mount adapter now and put that on my speedbooster? Or would this create focus issues? How could I make this work? Thanks for your help in advance! :) Cheers, Twan
  22. Hello guys, SK4 + BMPCC I am wondering if the Cooke SK4 lenses are working well on the BMPCC(Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera). I look forward to rent a 9.5mm or a 12mm T2 Cooke SK4 lens. I was wondering if someone has used this setup before and if they can confirm if there is a problem or maybe a benefit to this setup. I would test it my self but they are rented out for now so thats no option. I would love to see some footage so I can see for my self if it is a good choice to use it for a film. I am especialy curiouse what it does to people and their skin tones and the effect it has on there face. S4I + BMPCC Also I wonder if people used the 14mm T2 35mm-lens with the BMPCC. I have a feeling it will lose thier feel in the out of focus area when used on a Pocket camera. Would love to hear what you guys think. Footage would be great of course. Thank you for your time, Daniel
  23. Hello all, I have recently bought an Angenieux 12-120mm type 10x12 B lens for the Blackmagic Pocket Camera. Upon buying this lens, I believed it to be a C mount; to my surprise, it is not. Could someone help me identify what type of mount this lens has exactly? Thanks, John W. King
  24. Hello. Would like to get some feedback on good/affordable gears for 16mm film lenses, mostly for BMPCC. I own a BMPCC , Schneider and Kern Primes. Looking for : => A good CAGE I own this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMPC-Cage-Top-Handle-Grip-15mm-BMPCC-for-Blackmagic-Pocket-Camera-support-system-/261534271701?pt=UK_Photography_Movie_Camera_Accessories&hash=item3ce4a848d5 , which scratches the body a bit when in and out, too heavy and annoying to do Steadicam work. Thinking to get the Varavon (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261398476332&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en) as Tilta is quite pricey although people say it's great, I never tried. THe good on the Varavon seem is that it looks light as per designs, but sill the Clamp is too high so in the Steadicam is hard to balance, so I might use one in my shoulder rigs that might be 2/3 of the height. I'm looking for a good one that is practical and fits well, if any other suggestion please let me know. => Good adaptable RINGS for follow focus. Still couldn't find small than 50-60mm (like this 60mm: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281387086694&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en) as the barrel of the kerns are ridiculously small (25mm wide). And I'm not sure if the 60mm would fit a Schneider barrel of 45mm for example. Any experience/Ideas of rings? Any other tips around BMPCC gear and accessories, just put in here. Thanks guys.
  25. I'm going to at last get a monitor, not just for the bigger display, but for the focus peaking and zebras (to name just a couple of reasons why). Now the first question I need to resolve, is do I get just a monitor by itself (such as one of the SmallHD monitors) or get a combined monitor/recorder (such as from Atomos). Currently my situation is I'm using a Nikon D5200 plus a BMPCC that has just arrived with future upgrading plans of maybe perhaps getting a Panasonic GH4 in a few months from now. (slim possibility it might be instead a Sony A7S, or even a Samsung NX1. Could even be something that hasn't be released yet! I'm in no rush, I'll wait and see) So whatever I'm picking should be suited for what I've got now (& in the near future). Am thinking I've narrowed down my decision to Ninja Blade vs Ninja 2. I'm leaning towards getting the Atomos Ninja Blade (it is worth it over the cheaper Ninja 2???), for a few reasons (let me know if they're good reasons or not! I'm just presuming here): 1) I'm thinking using SSDs could be better than SD cards in the BMPCC (though not being able to record CinemaDNG raw to SSD is a pity) 2) having the ability to tag good/bad takes on set with AtomosOS seems like it could be a big time saver when doing rush edits. 3) no time recording limit with the Nikon D5200 (if I got just a monitor, I expect I'd then get a Blackmagic Design: HyperDeck Shuttle as well. Well, or maybe maybe wait a few months to see if NikonHacker removes the recording time limit on the D5200) But on the flip side the Ninja 2 is significantly cheaper.... so I wonder, is the older Ninja 2's screen satisfactory for pulling focus or is the Blade's high resolution screen going to be a huge bonus here? Probably the biggest point of confusion I have between the two is how the Ninja Blade and Ninja 2 run different version of Atomos OS (with the Blade having the newer version of course), as I can't seem to clearly find any info on what specifically is the benefits of that. (such as around workflow around tagging clips on set and then in post) Thoughts/criticism/suggestions? I'm all ears!
