  2. SORRY - misspelled Tripod in the Title line... I have a Bolex style quick release on a rig ready tripod mount. My question for all you camera guys: How should this mount on a tripod? From the top downward or use the tripod's screw and attach from the bottom?? I've seen it done both ways... But what do you prefer??? Thanks for your help Arthur
  3. Hello, I have a Kern Aarau wooden tripod, no model number on it, that came with a Kern Aarau theodolite (surveyor's instrument). It's a very fine piece of kit. Could anyone tell me if they know if a movie camera fluid head could be attached to it. I'm thinking so far of a Ronford Baker fluid head. It would be used with a Bolex H16 and also potentially an Arri 2C. Thanks for any advice. Will take measurements if any further details are requested. Could even take some pics if necessary.
  4. Hi Gang - I am sure this has been asked many times before but what lenses would you recommend for a Bolex H16 Reflex (non super 16)? Currently I have a Kern-Paillard 25mm (no RX markings on it), but I was looking for something with a wider view angle. Maybe like a 10mm? Thanks a lot! Gabi
  5. OK all you Bolex wizards... what is it?... I've seen them before but never actualyl attached on a camera.
  6. I just received a bolex h16 with all the bells and whistles etc including a rexofader. I cranked the camera with the levers at MOT and I, 24fps and then I hit the trigger.. absolutely nothing, is the spring busted? I've been prowling the forums and manuals, and can't quite figure out the problem?
  7. People! Go spare parts for this rare camera. Need a counter that is in the camera. Battery compartment for the control unit (bottom part)
  8. Hi Everyone, I'm thinking of buying a Kowa 16H lens for my Bolex H16 REX5 in the aim of making cinemascope. If I have fully understand this lens is adaptable directly on my proper lens, like for example a switar, with a clamp. I guess that I can find several models of clamps in fonction of the diametre of the lenses I want to use. The thing is that I want after that to be able to project my film with an Eiki NT2, and I wonder if I could use the same lens, as it is apparently made for both, camera and projector. How can I adapt the Kowa on the projector? With an other clamp? Here are I am with my supposition...

  10. OK... what to do with, yet another white elephant. It's a modified REX 1 with 200' foot load capacity. I got this long ago... works great... but was thinking of making it available. 15. Hello Everyone.... OK I found this EBM the is setup to record audio on to 16mm film while shooting... Well that's one way to get SYNC sound... It all looks very complete, but would anyone, today, still use this device? The reason I ask is that I'm planning to remove it... but it seems a shame to trash such vintage technology. any thoughts on this opportunity? Arthur!
  16. Hello, (A summary of my questions are bullet pointed below the first paragraph) I am looking at buying a Bolex with the purpose of doing a few short films and music videos over the next 12 months . This will also be the first 16mm film camera I own and I good starting point before I move on to a 16sr3 advanced. I have done my research on the camera and most answers say the SBM, EBM and Rex 4 and 5 models are the best to convert to super 16. However I feel I need to ask a more basic question on what people in this forum would suggest, as I can ask more direct questions and hopefully get more specific answers. I know the basic benefits of converting to Super 16, but I'm more interested in what bolex model people would suggest is the best for the job. I could spend between £1,200-£1,500 on the camera but obviously if a cheaper option is just as good that'd be fantastic. I have seen some super 16 SBM for around $2,999 so yes! So here are my questions in summary. -What is the best model in my price range to buy to convert to super 16? -This may sound stupid but I know the issues with the beamsplitter and the widening of the viewfinder with conversion, but can a PL mount be put on the camera without it having undergone the conversion, as have read and seen people putting Zeiss super speeds on these cameras. - If the new faceplate reads bolex H super 16, what bolex model was that before the conversion (again may sound stupid). I do have more questions on the topic, but once I get a reply I may ask more ahah. I am hoping to do a project in late June this year so If anyone has any information they might think is helpful that would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Will
  17. Other than the obvious Out-of-phase problems. is there a way to determine that your shutter is perfectly in phase? I shot some camera tests and and some scenes revealed a phase issue and some were ok.... weird! why would this be? Arthur!
  18. I know of several but they seem hard to find.. Had a "time flow" once... wasn't easy to use nor simple to figure the setting status. Anybody? Arthur!
  19. ...OK, I'm working with Bolex EBM in a studio setting...the camera body will mount directly to the tripod or dolly. I'm not using the handle grip that has the on/off button on it. MY Question is: Can I plug in my generic power supply (12.2VDC) directly into the camera? The on/off switch will be in-line on the cable going from the power supply to the camera? This configuration will help me run the camera remotely. so what is wrong with the setup? Thanks for your support... Arthur!
  20. Hey Guys. I haven't shot on 16mm for quite some time. Picked up a H16 EBM, Just wondering wha the process for unloading is from the EBM, as on the old reflexes, you disengaged the motor and then wound back the film, not to sure what to do on this body. it also doesn't have the spindle... any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mitch
  21. Hello Everyone, Well last year I was selling a bunch of gear before moving to South America. Some of it never sold and I'm back in the States for a short visit and still need to go ahead and try to get rid of it instead of letting it sit in my storage unit. I need to have all this sold before May 12th. I've tried to price them as low as I can to get rid of them quickly. There is some wiggle room for some of the more expensive items. Reasonable deals can be made if buying several items. There are no shipping costs for local pickup in Valrico, Florida. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions about any of these items and I will answer as best I can.
  22. I have the first prototype installed on a Bolex REX... eliminated the mask and have a line on the ground glass defining the exposed gate area. I think the lines should be thinner...
  23. I have a Bolex Rex5 that I'm having a focus problem with. Consistent across several rolls of film the fist 15 frames of film waver in and out of focus before finally settling on a just-out-of-focus image which is holds for the remainder of the shot, almost just a soft focus. It is incredibly noticeable when text in in the image. Is this something one would see if the the pressure plate on the gate was not closed properly? I like to to think I didn't improperly close the pressure plate for several rolls of film, but I suppose anything is possible...
  24. Looking to have a bolex looked at/repaired. Anyone out there still servicing? Thanks! - Hunter
