Hey all. Happy holidays and happy new year. 2020 is now hindsight (thank god). First off, I have a lot of reverence for what you guys do. Many of you on this forum I'm a huge fan of, so it's an honor even in a small way to be writing this. So thanks for listening. Overwhelmed by choice overload. I tend to be a little too good at matching pros with cons and vice versa, so this amount of indecision (and the self-awareness about the indecision) has been difficult. Hence the need to reach out. I'll cut to the chase since I don't want to waste anybody's time. I'm looking to own a camera, tha

Hey everyone, I recently have been attempting to understand ACES. Currently, I am using C-LOG footage from a C100 mk II, but I've noticed that the IDT for C100 C-Log isn't listed in the Resolve project settings. I've found a CTL file for this (presumably) on Canon's website, but I have no idea how to install that in the program, and the more I try to delve into ACES the more complicated everything seems to be. Does anyone have advice for this? Thanks!

I've been working with video as an amateur now for 5 years. After I graduated college last year I decided it was time to move from a DSLR to a more cinema oriented body. I went with the Canon C100 and thanks to a grant I won in my last semester, I was able to purchase the Atomos Ninja Blade 2 as well. Right now, I am working as a DP on a small-budget horror feature. After this is through, I have my projects I'd like to embark on, BUT I may lose the Ninja Blade (because the grant was through the school and they want to/have the right to keep it). I understand this severely limits the recor

I just read an article (http://nofilmschool.com/2016/02/cameras-used-sundance-2016-filmmakers-why) about the cameras used by DOP for the films at Sundance 2016, I notice there’re a bunch of film shot entirely or partially with BlackMagic, and cameras such as 7D, 5D Mark3 and C100. I see there’s no Sony a7 series cameras being used. What do you think you guys about the new Sony a6300 expected for march 2016? could it live up to be a camera for low budget film, with external record? being the internal sampling 4:2:0? what could the market be for it? or why would people pre

Hi everyone. I'm shooting a short character doc in Greenland in two weeks. I'll be on a ship/boat most of the time. My camera is C100 with atomos ninja star. Lenses are: Sigma 18-35 1.8 / Canon 24-70 F4 / Canon 70-200 2.8 and I have an old school Olympus 50mm 1.8. Do I need any special filters? And if so, which and what brand. Otherwise any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you :)

Does anyone have any advice on what i brand or type of rig to buy and maybe any experience with buying rigs, this is the first one i have bought. Cheers Gabe

https://vimeo.com/59642343 Used Equipment: Canon C100 Zeiss CP2 18mm/35mm/85mm “A human being is only breath and shadow.” – Sophocles This quote from Sophocles inspired me to shoot this short film. It was a really nice experience to work with Canon C100. I pushed the ISO up to 4000 because i wanted to see how much noise will be generated. Of course there is some grain in the picture but the low light ability of the Canon C100 is still amazing. Working with the Compact Prime Lenses was uncomplicated. The Magnifier Button, which operates also during recording is an amazing too
