  6. I just purchased a large lot of cine lenses. Most are pretty straightforward - either old PL or C mounts; but there are a couple of head scratchers. I have a Kinoptic Anamorphic F:2 Focale 75mm lens. The odd thing is that is doesn't have a focusing mechanism. Below the aperture ring is a screw on 1.5" (approximately) barrel followed by another short ring (see attached photos. The threaded section measures slightly under 35mm. Does anyone know what's up with this lens? Is it some sort of universal mount that screws into the focusing helical of one's choice? Thanks! John
  7. Hey everyone! I'm selling my Bartech BFD because I've had a slight career shift and my new work doesn't need the beefier setup of the BFD and M-One Motor. Everything is in used condition, but works great. I have lots of detailed photos and I'm happy to take specific photo requests if you have something you want to see in detail before buying. I'm including everything pictured (except the table or cyc wall). There's a lot in this kit, but I'll break it down as best as I can. Frankly, there's a few cables that came with the BFD when I bought it that I'd be unable to identify properly, but I've included the detailed pictures of all cables and connectors. Here's what's in the kit: Foam-Fitted Handheld Case An ORIGINAL printout, analog paper Manual with OEM staple. Bartech BFD Wireless Transmitter - Handheld Focus Puller (S/N T1.0154) Spare Markers for BFD BFD Hardwire Cable. 25' Cable connecting the Transmitter to the Receiver in case of signal loss or faulty connection. Works great on jibs or cranes. (Reference: Image B) Bartech BFD Wireless Receiver (S/N R1.0154) Horizontal and Vertical Mounts (15mm and 19mm) New Antenna (Not pictured; I lost the original plastic antenna cover, but ordered an entirely new OEM replacement antenna.) BFD Receiver Gimbal Mount - Hard-wire Remote Control for use on a Steadicam, Movi or Ronin. (Reference: Image A) M-One Motor (S/N M-1.0010) Six gears with varying pitches for different size lenses: 0.8m - 32P (2x), 0.5m, 48P, 0.4m - 64P, and 0.6m 15mm, 17mm and 19mm rod adapters for proper mounting fit Misc Hardware for Receiver Mount and replacement screws Additional Cable Assortment 3-Pin male to 3-Pin male LEMO long hardwire power extension cable (Looks to be about 10-15 feet long. I can confirm if you'd prefer, just let me know!) (Reference: Image H) 5-Pin male to 5-Pin male LEMO connector cable from receiver to motor (Reference: Image D) 3-Pin male to 2-Pin male LEMO to power receiver from Steadicam Zephyr (and others with similar 3-Pin connector) (Reference: Image I) Anton Bauer D-Tap male to 2-pin LEMO male to power the receiver from an Anton Bauer battery or V-Mount adapter with proper D-Tap connector. (Reference: Image G) 12V 4-Pin XLR male to 2-pin LEMO male presumably powering the receiver off of beefier film cameras or battery connectors (Reference: Image E) Unidentified 2-pin male LEMO to a fun, half 2-pin male, half 2-pin female connector that I've never seen before or needed to work with. If you recognize it, you get bonus points. (Reference: Image F) I think this last one is an old Panavision connector, if memory serves. But, I'm really not certain on this one either. It's a half 1-pin male, half 1-pin female LEMO connector and a fat 11-pin male connector on the other end. (Reference: Image C) Price: $3750 USD FREE SHIPPING to USA. Will provide quote for international Shipping. Payment via Paypal for Shipping or cash for Local Pickup: Boston area) Pictures attached:

  10. Dit, the proffesion | Camaleon Cinema Services Camaleon Rental blog we are going to speak about the role of a DIT. The first question is to define what a DIT is as well as determine if this position belongs to the camera crew or to the postproduction crew. The answer would be that he is kind of a liaison between both department, even though if we have to make a choice we would say that he is part of the camera department since he works on set. The DIT profession (technical image technician), arrives with the appearance of the first high definition cameras and then with the digital cinema cameras. At this point we should remember that when these cameras arrived both directors of photography and assistant cameramen came from working for many years with film cameras. So after the arrival of such new and different gear, it was necessary the inclusion of a new figure to the camera crew in order to advise the DoP on how to squeeze... More info here.

  15. IBC 2015, Stand E55, Hall 11 SHELTON, CT (August 31, 2015) - Anton/Bauer, a Vitec Group brand and premier provider of battery and charging technologies for the broadcast, film and video industries, announces its new CINE battery series for digital cinema cameras. The CINE battery series was designed to be the safest and most durable mobile power solution for professional cinematographers. The CINE series delivers 12 amps of continuous power and incorporates Fuse Link technology, which - in the case of a cell anomaly - provides protection to surrounding battery cells, preventing catastrophic damage. The battery line also features multiple sensors to detect temperature and over-current states, ensuring optimal battery performance during regular use. Ideal for camera stabilizer systems and rail-mounted cameras, the CINE battery's durable, industrial design and footprint compliments cine-style cameras, such as the ARRI ALEXA Mini and RED Weapon, and functions on all existing Anton/Bauer chargers. For ultimate convenience, the CINE battery series includes a PowerTap® to power auxiliary accessories such as monitors, lights, wireless receivers, and any other 14V accessory. "The CINE battery series exemplifies Anton/Bauer's dedication to producing the world's safest, smartest, and most reliable power systems for professional cinematographers," said Neal Laneville, Product Manager for Anton/Bauer. "We spent a lot of time taking feedback from our customers and integrating it into the design of the new CINE series. The result is a battery series that combines our ground breaking safety technologies with a completely redesigned chassis built just for cinematographers. It's a bespoke solution for the most demanding professionals." The CINE series also includes an extremely accurate LCD that provides users with run-time information in hours and minutes. When the battery is detached, the LCD screen will display battery life as a percentage of capacity, allowing the user to effortlessly track usage. Coming in September 2015, the CINE series will be available in 90 Wh and 150 Wh in both Gold Mount and V-Mount connectors. A 190 Wh option will be available in 2016. For more information on the CINE battery series, please visit www.antonbauer.com or call +1 (800) 422-3473.
  16. Hey Guys, I have been recently hired to shoot a short feature and have been asked for my preference in lens selection. The director wants to shoot on Arri/Zeiss Master Primes (T1.3) on a Sony F5 camera system. Would you have any recommendations on focal lengths? In regard to the production, there will be mostly interiors with a few exterior moments, the story is very personal among the few characters involved, and the director is using Emmanel Lubezki as a primary visual influence. I was personally thinking of just a 35, 50 and 85mm set... Thanks! Sam

  23. Just finished a film and selling (3) Super 16 lenses. All of them were overhauled by Abelcine and the gears renewed with teflon a month ago by VP. The are all super clean, project sharp and clear. Only a few cleaning marks on them due to age. The 50mm Illumina is super sharp. If you buy a random lens on Ebay, you will most likely have to pay $$ to get it up to speed. That work has already been done to these. 25. I hope this my first post is in the correct place!. I have been given an old Hanimex projector and have got it working, but the take up spool does not revolve for some unknown reason. It has the belt attached but does not turn, everything else seems to be working fine and the pictures are ok, so I must be missing something. Can anyone give me a clue please as I would really like to completely restore this old machine to fully working order. Any information will be gratefully received. Thanks, John
