  1. For lens cleaning, somebody says only lens expert can clean the lens because if non expert clean lens, the coating on lens removes quickly. So he said avoid it. But now it looks really dirty.. i have a question on this moment. can we just clean the lens really often with lens tissue with Panchro? Or should we send the lens to expert? Is there big difference? Do the lens experts in Rental shop have special technic or special lens cleaner?
  2. Hi, Thank you for all the answers of my last topic. Now I have a question regarding the viewfinder of my SR2. There are some dirty spots in the frame when I look through it. The lens is clean so it must be the viewfinder. How can I clean it? Can I open / unscrew it from the body? Any recommendations? ? Thanks for reading, D.C.
  3. Hi Guys, I own a Krasnogorsk K-3, I purely use it for fun, not professionally. I've put about three rolls through it at this stage, and although I'm happy with the quality of the footage, I notice a large dust build up on all the the footage, as well as some continuous straight scratching on the right side of the film. Have been quoted £400 to have the camera professionally cleaned and serviced, but it's not worth that so I'm not really willing to fork out that much just for a camera that I use for fun. Was wondering if anyone here has experience of cleaning this camera themselves? And if they could give any advice to potentially fixing this at home? I gave the camera a good blow with compressed air, and a little brush the last time I put a roll through it, but still got the recurring issues. Any other help would be massively appreciated! I have attached some images for reference. Best, Jack
  4. What dependable companies or individuals can you suggest for lens services? I want to have a set of 70s/80s Canon FDs cleaned and serviced (slight dust, fungus, haze). Additionally I'd like to remove the lens coatings. They will ultimately be rehoused so mounts/seatings are not of concern. The entire kit may include: FD 14mm f/2.8L FD 20mm f/2.8 SSC FD 24mm f/1.4L FD 35mm f2 SSC ii FD 55mm f/1.2 ssc ASPHERICAL FD 85mm f/1.2 L ASPHERICAL I'm based in the states (midwest) but am talking with GL Optics/Nan to rehouse them. So could be open to someone near him in China.
  5. Hey everyone. The other day I was testing out different bulbs in my 1K fresnel to see how wattage correlates to output (switching from 750 to 1K only resulted in 1/3 stop difference, which I found really surprising). I did something stupid though: since I only had my light on for a few seconds to take a quick light meter reading, I thought that the lamp probably wasn't that hot, and waited far less time than I normally would for it to cool down. Basically, I touched the bulb with the gloves I happened to be wearing at the time (which aren't real proper leather electrician gloves but rather a pair I found at Home Depot with faux leather-like tips on the fingers designed so you can use touch screens), and some of the faux leather finger tips melted right onto the glass of the bulb. Fortunately, these gloves are thick enough that I didn't get hurt, but unfortunately, I have this melted stuff stuck to my lamp. Are there ways to clean off lamps? I know mine might even be a lost cause now, but this seems like it might be useful information for the future. Thanks.
  6. I recently acquired a 9.5 mm Pathé Webo M that I would clean and lubricate. Would there be a tutorial showing how to dismantle this type of camera?
