Hello everybody! I recently purchased a quartz controlled motor for my Arriflex 16 St, however unfortunately it's not working. Apparently this is a super rare motor made by ARRI (Quarz - Antriebs - System, Typ: A 16 St E), and there is little to no information about it on the internet. I wonder if anybody reading this forum has any documentation about this motor, preferably schematics. I managed to find somebody who's willing to fix it, but it would make our life a 100x easier if we had a starting point. Thank you. Recently I've been having an odd specific problem with my AATON XTR Plus. For some reason lately I lose 24FPS crystal sync and my camera will periodically drop to 20FPS. It happens erratically with no clear reason. I've caught the issue in the eyepiece, cut and re roll then the LCD will go back to displaying 24FPS It's happened in a variety of situations, using both voltage regulated gold mount adapters and the original 12v AATON batts. I'm fairly convinced it is not a power issue. The FPS speed dial on the camera is locked firmly at 24. Has anyone had this issue with their AATON? I know there are many Krasnogorsk haters on this forum but I wanted to share this awesome project by Russian DP Max Ivanov. It's been 2 years in the works and so much effort has been put into this with a ton of custom machined parts and boards. Here are the specs as shared on the Instagram page for the project: - Camera works with 7-12V batteries (it has a 2-pin lemo connector for power input) - Swiss 100 watt BLDC Motor. (BLDC motors have longer service life and were installed on the Aaton A Minima, XTR Prod, Arri 416.) - Motor controlled and stabilized by a microcontroller - Sync is accurate to 0.001fps at 25fps. (between 0.01-0.001 at other framerates) - Framerates: 1-50 fps - Video tap is based on GoPro internals which allows to record the tap feed in-camera. (Max said he will be adding a cable clamp / adapter since it uses the unreliable micro-hdmi connection from the gopro internals) - Optical viewfinder can be used at the same time as the video tap - Wi-Fi control which allows to set framerate and run/stop wirelessly via your phone - Electronic footage counter. (Maintains footage count after being powered off and has a reset button) - Super 16 gate with ground glass adjustment mechanism. FFD can now be easily tuned and will be precisely set on every model. Max will also be selling a set of tools for calibrating the FFD on this camera so you will be able to calibrate it yourself (I can already hear some of you complaining about how nobody should attempt to do this on their own unless they're a trained technician) - Super 16 viewfinder with correct markings - PL Mount Obviously not a camera for every situation, like narrative projects or basically anything with dialogue. However, I think it's perfect for more abstract projects like music videos or fashion films, especially when you need to move fast and do dynamic handheld stuff. I have one preordered and am super excited to test it out once it's ready! (I think the current eta is March/April)

I've asked around, read the manual, read online, called techs, and still can't get a straight answer on this one. I have an Eclair NPR with the Beala (Beauviala) crystal motor .. the manual states if the light goes on, sync is achieved and if the light is off, sync cannot be guaranteed. Elsewhere I see the exact opposite, and that the light is a warning that sync has been lost. I know this is because of the other motors that were made afterwards having different specs, but can anyone please tell me what the truth is on this one? Thank you!!

I came across an old forum in another website talking about using a Tobin TXM-20Ba crystal sync motor with a Beaulieu 4008 and nothing more. The user only stated the motor cost $495 and it worked well not only with the beaulieu but also with other film cameras. Nobody really added to the forum as far as the noise level of the motor (believe it or not I have come across crystal sync motors that are so loud it is absolutely pointless to record audio) or where I could even buy one. After digging around on google I came up with nothing so I figured this would be a good place to ask. Does anybody have any information on this motor or other cheaper alternatives for crystal syncing the beaulieu? Thanks for any response

Hello again. I'd posted some photos of a blimp I bought off of ebay for the Bolex H-16 (http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=61757&hl=). It came with a motor but I wasn't sure about the motor's accuracy so I removed it. I also own a Tobin TCS TXM-20Ba Bolex Crystal Sync Motor. I want to use the Tobin motor in the blimp but the motor sticking out of it is just a little bit too tall for the camera to go all the way in place with the motor attached. So I got this bright idea (or not so bright maybe) that I would replace that motor with a shorter motor of equivalent specs/function. My question: Is the new motor a suitable/equivalent replacement for the original motor? I thought it was but I'm just not 100% sure and thought I'd ask anyone who is more savvy with electronics before I go taking the Tobin motor apart. I think the new motor will allow me to use the Tobin unit in the blimp but it would be even better if I could get an even shorter motor. If anyone knows of an even shorter equivalent, please let me know. :)

Selling my beloved Boles H16 Rex 4 super16 modified by JK Camera with the 13x Viewfinder. It works perfect and is in very good shape. I´m the second owner! The variable shutter is a bit loose. I have never used that and I guess its an easy fix... I also have Tobin TTL Time lapse motor and TXM-20BA Crystal Sync motor for it.
