  1. Yesterday I shot my first ever roll in my new Eclair NPR. It was a 400' roll of 50d, a short skit with some friends. It was really fun shooting with it and the camera was great to use, I'll remember this first roll. What were your first experiences with the Eclair NPR? What did you shoot? How did it go?
  2. Hi everyone, I recently bought a very early Eclair NPR from France, serial no 199. The lens turret on it is a c-mount on both bottom and top mounts which is quite uncommon. Does anybody know where I could get a turret that has the Cameflex mount or know someone who might have one or a parts camera that I could have one off? Kind regards Aren
  3. Currently trying to track down any kind of a battery (non functioning is fine) w/cable for eclair ACL 1 or 1.5 (original 4-pin jaeger connector) or even just a 4 pin jaeger connector to fashion a new cable, already have two batteries with XLR out, just need the jaeger end (original cable was fried) neither Bernie at Super16inc nor Andrew at AZ spectrum seem to have any stock so checking here, much appreciated!
  4. Just want to know for sure while I’m planning a project. Can I switch lens (in daylight) while in the middle of a 16mm 400’ roll? My camera, an Eclair ACL, doesn’t have a multi-turret design. Does the shutter protect the rest of the roll (as long as the camera isn’t running)?
  5. Hi there, I believe that this is probably something that has been discussed before. But I hope there are some new things that can be brought up with this question. I have an upcoming project in the fall, and the director and I have decided that we want to have the anamorphic look for a short we will be making. Now the flares are not the most important thing, but rather the vast image that we are going for. The problem is how to achieve it. First idea would be to use my own S16 Eclair ACL, with an PL adapter, and we were considering renting pure 1.33x anamorphics. But as far as I know, the o
  6. I'm looking for an ACL ii. Super or reg, Is anybody looking to get rid of one, or know where I could get one? Besides ebay I mean. Thanks
  7. This is a bit specific so I might not get a response, but has anyone ever adapted Leica m-mount lenses to a c-mount cine camera? There are adapters out there, and the flange distance appears to allow this to happen, but I’m still a little unsure as to if it’ll work perfectly. The fact that Leica lenses are built for cameras that don’t have a mirror, and I’m attempting to adapt it to a camera that has a mirror, seems backwards. Usually you can’t adapt mirrorless/rangefinder lenses to SLR lenses (while maintaining infinity focus). Additionally, I know m-mount lenses that are wider than 50mm perf
  8. Just got an ACL today. Seems to be working fine. I think this ACL is equipped with the heavy-duty motor (but not the fancy crystal sync at all speeds motor). The speeds increase when I turn the fps dial. But there’s this blank option. When I turn to it, it makes the motor go really slow, like slower than 8fps. What is that? I’ve included a photo.
  9. I’m soon going to buy an Eclair NPR, but I want to confirm first: can modern lens mounts be adapted to c-mount? There are a lot of adapters available (like this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/577757-REG/bower_va304_c_mount_for_nikon.html), but most forum threads I’ve seen insist on getting the cameflex mount changed to PL instead of adapting lenses to the c-mount. Is the c-mount too weak to hold non-16mm lenses? Does it not accommodate enough space for other mounts?
  10. I actually own two 35mm movie cameras and I have to rent them out to other indie filmmakers /cinematographers who have trouble finding analog gear. Any places in the Hollywood area thats rents analog movie cameras anymore? Most every rental house I have checked in the LA area that used to carry analog movie cameras have either gone out of business or they have a very spare selection of analog film cameras maybe a ARRICAM and thats it. Or the rental won't rent to you unless you have the backing of a major movie studio. Any rental houses with a good selection of analog gear out there still frie
  11. G’day all, I’m on the hunt for a motor for an Eclair ACL. Preferably the higher speed one, but not fussed at this point, just grateful if anyone can please point me the direction of one at all.
  12. Looking to buy an Eclair NPR. PM me if you have any leads. Thanks~
  13. Hi everyone! I'm a young filmmaker that has recently decided to dedicate myself completely to shooting on film. I've been shooting 16mm for years, but have never owned a camera myself. I've decided to invest in a camera as I'm always on the go, and to keep borrowing cameras is getting too complicated. I'm searching for either an Eclair ACL II or the Aaton LTR 54 (also open to LTR 7).
  14. Hi, looking for an Eclair ACL package, preferably in Europe. 16 or s16 converted is fine, no ultra 16 thought thanks. On a bit of a budget so so don’t need a massive package, enough to start shooting though preferably. Feel free to message here or email me at jackcurtisdop@gmail.com. thanks
  15. Hi all, I'm looking to purchase an orientable Angenieux viewfinder for the Eclair NPR. I have the original Kinoptic viewfinder which is being laser brightened soon, but I would love to have an orientable vf in the kit. Let me know if anyone has any leads! Thank you, Tristan
  16. Hi there, I finally have gotten my Eclair ACL kit to work, and it has been out on a handful of jobs. I love it. Thing is, I am now making a video tap for it, to try to modernize and make it an alternative to the alluring SR's, and 416's of the world. One issue though is that the repairman that made my conversion, Bernie at Super 16 Inc, made the frame lines by hand. And that's all good for myself using it privately, but it does come across as a bit unprofessional in the working world. My question is, is there anyone in the Los Angeles area that potentially could make me a custom ground glas
  17. Does anybody happen to know where I might be able to find a working 400' magazine for an Eclair ACL II? I haven't been able to really find any on ebay recently. Thanks!
  18. Hi peeps, I just posted this lens on eBay, so if you are looking for a C-mount lens that will cover the S16 frame here is one. I only ship to the lower 48 United States. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153231296621 Thanks for looking
  19. I know this is going to sound dumb, but I have an Eclair NPR camera and I cannot find the serial number on it. I removed the motor, I looked all over the place and I couldn't find it. This specific unit was modified by Les Bosher, so they may have removed the plate or something. They changed the tourret and maybe the serial number was there. I want to send the camera to service and it would be nice to know what the serial number is so I can have more info about the camera. Thanks
  20. My first test with a 3 perf cameflex was perfect except for the gate flare present in the negative. Just want to confirm this is the case... however the triangle flare isn't vertically/horizontally flipped as the rest of the image. Looks like it's flaring/bleeding into the next frame. As far as solutions...paint the mask? Both sides? Which paint do you recommend? Attached below are the stills, and of the gate, with and without the shutter. Many thanks!
  21. I'm ready to do some tests with my Eclair NPR camera and I have some questions after practicing loading the magazines... Obviously I'm missing something simple and I've spent some time searching yet haven't found the answers so please forgive the basic questions: 1) Can someone explain the importance of the "loop"? It's very specific about 12 images with 6 on each side. I don't think the manual I have explains why this is important and what will happen if the frame count of the loop is incorrect or if it's out of alignment. Will it effect the image? Will there be flickering? 2
  22. I'm looking for a power source for my Eclair NPR 16mm camera and I think I'm starting to get a rough idea of what to look for (still open to suggestions tho) but one key question: does a higher frame rate require more volts? The manuals I've seen online suggest a 12 volt, 3-5 Amh battery to power the Perfectone motor but I've seen discussions about the motor stopping as soon as the FPS rate goes up. Someone who appeared more knowledgeable than myself said the higher frame rate would require higher voltage. Possibly up to 15 volts. However I've also read discussions where people war
  23. Hi there, Finally I have had my ACL serviced by the best, Mr Bernie O'Doherty, and finally I can use it to shoot something serious. But to be serious, you need to have the complete set. And right now I am look for some accessories for the camera. First off is the top handle. I do know that Les Bosher sells one, but me and him do not seem eye to eye, so that is not an option. Second I am looking for is a new rubber cup for my viewfinder, the one I had just broke and I need something to replace it. if you know of any other accessories that might be necessary and you want to off-load, please
  24. Hi everyone, thanks for having me. I'm new to cinematography, being a still photog for about 20 years now. I have a tight budget to shoot 16mm and bought an Eclair ACL II kit for 500€, including Angenieux zoom, 2 400ft mags, kinoptic viewfinder, case, battery. The camera has hardly ever been used. It seems to run OK for now, i've not used it yet really. My intention is really to use the camera on the shoulder most of the time, so I was kind of surprised when trying it. I have a MIMUL motor, which is actually large and seems to take the place of the shoulder between the body and the mag
  25. Hello everyone, I'm looking for this part (see on foto) or whole viewfinder, and looking for the motor, and video-assistant, and new obturator for these cam. I can trade some of these positions on lomo lenses. Regards, Vitaly.
