If you don't need to adjust the stool much, then a regular lever action stool is fine. I am always adjusting the stool for working on different shelf heights, so I sprung for the pricier 'ring adjusting' doctor's model. It is what they use in the medical field. It has an adjustment ring, so you don't have to hunt for the lever. Love it!
If you are tall, get the taller version. This one goes down to 16.5 inches at the low point.
As long as you are thinking ergonomics, get yourself a heavy duty electric adjusting worktable or three. I don't have one, but I think about it every few days when my back hurts and wish I did have one. It is on the 'to buy' list along with a workhouse and Lasergraphics Director scanner...as soon as the lotto hits!
