  1. Looking to sell this like new Misfit Atom. I bought two a few months ago for a project, and only need one now. As you probably know, these are amazingly lightweight, well built, and functional.   2. hello guys! I've got a question, it might be a stupid question for some of us, still it bothers me right now! I was browsing some Canon Cinema Prime lenses, and I read: "they offer brilliant 4K image quality" my question is: what does that mean? I mean, how do they calculate that the lens offers a 4K image quality and not for instance a 2K? thank you so much :)
  3. Hello, you often can find old Kinoptik lenses, for example the Apochromat 25mm, in Cameflex, C-mount or other mounts for very, very high prices. What do you think about this lenses ? How is their quality and their 'look' compared to other lenses like Zeiss etc ? Why are this lenses so expensive ? Micha
  4. Hello, I wasn't able to find any posts on the topic with a keyword search so I figured I'd start one. I am currently looking into picking up some c-stands and combo stands and wanted to get the opinion of someone with first hand experience using the Norms Studio Equipment brand. I have used other brands of c-stands and combo stands but I don't believe I've ever used Norms. Seeing as some brands are more reliable than others my question is how is the quality of this brand? Are they reliable or should I look go another direction? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  5. With the advent of the 4/3 mount system a wide variety of lenses are now availble for use in HD and 4K acquisition. Lenses produced prior to the digital era may provide a specific look but for general production may not provide adequate resolution for HD or 4K production. Is there a standard suggested minimum resolution for lenses used for 4K acquisition? Are lower end lenses such as the Bower series and still lenses such as the Canon EF series of significant resolution to meet the requirements of 4K?

  7. greetings, This question has probably been asked a hundred times but the goal posts keep changing so here I am. Basically I want to shoot a short film. I'm willing to spend up to 15k for a camera kit and want to make sure I'm getting the best bang for buck I can. The idea takes place in the Australian desert and I'll be looking for hot sweaty actors and landscape glorious colour. There won't be much call for low light conditions. I'm a visual effects artist so I will be adding in various effects such as heat haze and so on and there will be green screen work later in the film. I'd like colour depth to play with and as much resolution as I can afford. I'm not looking for a hand held effect but there will be action shots with possibly a whip pan or two. I'll need several shots close to ground and tracking across the landscape. I was looking at the black magic but got told to stay away and go for a canon eos with nice lenses. So many choices - its like picking tiles for the house! any advise people may have and I'm all ears cheers mark
  8. Hello everybody, Has anyone of you made a comparative test between Alexa and Amira under the same conditions? According to Tech Specs, both cameras have exactly the same sensor. But is it possible to tell the difference between the two cameras, assuming they are using the same codec and ISO settings, the same lens and t-stop and the same lighting conditions? I´m looking forward to hear your opinions and experiences about this. Thanks, Matteo

Hi everyone, in few days I'm gonna show my short film to a commission for my graduation... now, until now I just worked on my laptop, never tried to see the result on TV, but as soon as I did it... I really freaked out! watching the film on my laptop, everything is good: high quality definition, bluish and desaturated look which is exactly what I wanted to achieve, no digital noise... when I saw it on TV, it was yellowish and very saturated, really bad definition with a LOT of digital noise... I don't really know what to do, my school career will be probably influenced by this project... can someone help with that? do you think I'm doing something wrong linking the PC to the TV, or is it normal all that noise?? I used a RGB cable to link the PC to the TV, and I'm using premiere pro cs6 to edit... is there something I can do in the export settings to have a really good HD product once it is shown on TV, or on a big screen? Please help, I will be really grateful for any kind of answer :(
  10. Hello everyone, I'm about to start shooting talks and lectures at my work and there is some money set aside to improve equipment (previously they were only shooting on a handycam). I myself have a canon 5d mark ii, but the problem with this is that it cannot shoot for longer than 15 min. So, I was thinking of using the budget to buy a blackmagic cinema camera, (and maybe the super 35 blackmagic camera), have that setup on a wide shot and then use the canon 5d mark ii to provide additional coverage but not a continuous shot. My question is really, can anyone with more experience than me pick fault with this setup or advise me on a way to do it better. Will there be any considerable quality difference between the two cameras and will this matter as it's going to be compressed on youtube. BW, Alex
