  1. Hello, I purchased an Arri SR2 Super 16 and wanted to frame for 1.78 viewing. Someone told me that I would need a viewing screen (ground glass) in order to do this, but I am unsure of what this is exactly. Can anyone tell where this ground glass goes on the camera; do I need to have it professionally installed, and do they still sell them? Also, I was also wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a video monitor that records (for playback purposes only) that can connect to my video tap (XC999). Thank you, Walter P.S. This is my first post. Forgive me if I am in the wrong section.
  2. Link to this item on ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252949577199?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 For sale is a full Arri sr2 kit. I bought this kit back in December '16. I got lucky when buying this camera from Alan Gordon Enterprises as everything was already in great condition, but I had it serviced at Cinematechnic LLC in LA as well. Includes: 1 - Arri sr2 Highspeed 16mm camera with crystal speed control 3 - Arri 400ft Magazines 1 - Collapsable Core 1 - Delwault battery adapter 2 - 12v dewalut batterys 1 - Dewault charger 1 - Euro Dewault charger 1 - 4 prong XLR battery cable 1 - Arri handgrip (possibly selling separately but for now is included in package) 1 - Arri support rods 1 - Arri Battery Charger (no arri batts included) 5 - white film cores 6 - Core adapters 3 - 100ft Film spools 1 - Large Pelican Case One great feature of this package is the custom Dewault Battery Adapter. These batterys last much longer than Arri batts and charge much faster. taking offers
  3. Hey guys, So I've recently purchased an old SR2 modded to shoot super 16. It's a solid package but the only thing missing is a video tap. I've contacted a guy that used to build Jurgens taps and he has the parts but it can get pretty costly. My other idea is to purchase another camera I have found (An SR1 with a tap) and install it in my SR2. The price would be far better taking this route. The bodies are almost identical as far as i know on the viewfinder/eyepiece side of things. My only concern is that the tap on the SR1 won't cover super 16. I know the old Jurgens taps would cover both but I am not sure about this one. The wonderful gentleman who is selling the SR1 has been kind enough to send me a video detailing the camera. Here's my dilemma: The tap isn't labeled and my google research to identify it (and get specs on whether it will cover S16) have come up short. Does anyone know what this tap is, its history, and if it covers S16 or not? (images attached: apologies for the quality. They were taken from a youtube link) Thanks everyone!
  4. Hey, So i recently did a registration test on an SR3, and I got back some curious results. For the test I shot 25' @ 24fps 25' @ 48fps 25' @ 75fps then rewound and did the same thing again with the chart moved a bit. I was expecting the 24fps to be rock solid, and the 48 and 75fps to have a little play, but it was the opposite. 75 was super solid, and 48 was a hair more wobbly, and 24 was loose. is that normal? and secondly, and i know this is hard to describe over text, but how steady should i be expecting a super 16mm to be? maybe it's a totally acceptable amount of wobble at 24fps and i am just expecting it to be better than it should be.
  5. I cracked the mirror shutter on my SR3 and have been having a hell of a time trying to find a new one. I did locate an SR2 mirror shutter so I thought I might be able to take off the mirror and replace the cracked SR3 mirror. I'm not talking about the whole mechanism, just the mirror. Does anyone know if those two mirrors are compatible? They appear to be the same, but I've had difficulty finding exact specs on either.
  6. Hey, I just bought an SRIII but it only came with one battery. Anyone know where I could pick up a couple more? Or, does anyone know someone who could make a small onboard that could plug into the 4-pin xlr? Looking for new, used, aftermarket, 3rd party, whatever. Cheers!
  7. Does anyone know if ARRI ever made a 4x4 1.85:1 hard matte to fit the SR-II matte box? Thanks.
  8. Hi, Been a reader for a long time but haven't been active on the site much, thought you all would have some good insights on my most recent reel. What you like, what could be done better. It's a mix of F65, Red, 16mm and one or two DSLR shots. Thanks guys, all the best! Ben http://fischinger.com/showreel-2014/
  9. First off, I want to say thank you to all the people who contribute to this forum - I’ve been lurking around for quite some time without posting much. You know the old adage... “If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all”... Well, by nice I mean something that could further the discussions - but quite often I find the answers before needing to ask! Anyway, I just got myself a s16mm Arriflex SR2 (PL mount), and I'm looking into prime lens options. I have a collection of 35mm and above format primes, but none suitable for this smaller gauge (they can obviously cover it but finding a good wide/normal lens out of my collection is a stretch). I’ve read in various places that some 16mm format lenses aren't compatible - they cover it but don’t physically fit with the Arri SRII or SR1. My question; what prime lenses which cover and/or are designed for super16 are compatible with my SR2 in the wide to normal focal lengths. I'm not looking for the newest and greatest optics available, but instead some quality vintage glass with character. Old lenses from the likes of Cooke, Schneider, Zeiss, Meyer, and probably any old German or Russian knockoff's interest me. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
