I bought a used LG 4K computer monitor someone was selling. It uses a special cable for 4K. The cable looks kinda like a HDMI cable, but it is a little different. There is a port on the computer for the 4K and the HDMI. When I plug in my regular monitor, which uses a HDMI cable, it shuts off the 4K monitor. Is there a trick to getting them to run at the same time? Thanks

The data is transferred uncompressed and with a latency of less than a millisecond, allowing for real-time, high-quality monitoring. Whatever is being shot can be viewed as it is being captured. The transmitted data is encrypted for safety. Power is supplied by either a V-Mount battery or DC input via a 4-pin XLR connector. If you have both a battery and a power supply connected, a backup power failure function will switch to the battery if the power supply is accidentally disconnected. The batteries and power supply are not included. I had been using a Canon t5i for years and was pretty disappointed in it. I had sworn off DSLRs for video until I saw RAW footage from my friends 7D after he installed magic lantern. When i saw the specs for the 7D Mark II my mind was a buzz with the possibilities that where now open to magic lantern and i bought one thinking the ML community would be working on it... How sadly mistaking I was... The ML forums are filled with Mark II owners pleading for a Magic lantern port and ML devs basically telling them to go screw themselves... Now i'm stuck with a camera only slightly better than the one I had before with the only possible saving grace being the HDMI out. Supposedly it's a clean, uncompressed 8bit out but i haven't found much information on it or people recording from it. I don't like the idea of having to spend more money to bypass Canons terrible compression but it's better than nothing. But before I do I want to make sure i'm not wasting my time. Is the HDMI streem good enough to justify the cost of an external recorder. If so what recorders do you recomend? I've been looking at The Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle 2 which records RAW and the Atomos Ninja 2 which only records ProRes. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

hello guys! I might be shooting my first low budget feature film as DOP, I'm so excited about it, I won't get paid but the expenses, but I think it's alright as I finally get the chance to work on a first feature. The director owns a Nikon D7200 and wants to use it for the shooting, and I can't make him change his mind. It shoots 4:2:0 8bit internally, so I suggested him to work with an external recorder like the Atomos Ninja 2 to record ProRes and 4:2:0. My question is if anyone has some experience with this camera, I'd love to hear, I believe you can always learn so much from everyone and from people's feedback and experiences, so I wonder if anyone has some experience to share using the D7200 (and maybe with an external recorder). thank you a lot :) also, I know the Atomos Ninja 2 records at full HD, 4:2:2 10bit, but I read if you pair it with the D7200 you can record 4:2:2 8bits. So my question is, is the internal 8bit of the camera a limitation cos you can't go higher even if your external record allows you to? or you can actually shoot with the Ninja 2 and D7200 in 10bit? (it's a general question on any camera paired with ext recorder) thank you guys!

hi all, i'm using mark iii with external monitor (ikan D5) and am having issuess. basically, it's very wonky. usually, everything will work fine upon starting up intially. but if monitor turns off, and i turn monitor back on, i get no image...or if i go into menu, when i come back out, there is no image--somehow it loses HDMI connection. and then, i have to go through whole rigamarole to get image back--turn off monitor/camera, unplug hdmi, turn monitor/camera on, then plug in HDMI--and then i'll get image. but sometimes that won't work...so i'll have to do all that, take out batt, and then start up again. is this a 5D issue? or is it just my camera/hdmi connection? thanks. goro

using the A7s, anyone shot Pro Res with the Atomos Shogun, UHD 4:2:2 ? any personal opinion on that? how's the signal through the HDMI output? thanks!
