  1. VHS The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross First Show Clips 1983 D.D.Teoli Jr. A.C. : D.D.Teoli Jr. A.C. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive If interested, check it out while you can. You never know when someone wants the plug pulled on things, no matter how ancient it is. I spent a month of more scanning old 1960's and 70's 'Playboy VIP Club' magazines from the bunny tail days. Very obscure and nothing that great in them...but Playboy complained and the whole archive was removed from the I.A. Everyone liked his voice. Most people that watched him just liked to see him paint and talk. Very few viewers actually painted. It was a relaxing, meditation sort of thing. Here are some VHS clips from his first show. Ross died at 52 on July 4, 1995, from lymphoma. Wikipedia <><><><> Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Archival Collection Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Small Gauge Film Archive Daniel D. 2. I was going to try the database software at Open Office freeware. But it said I needed Java. Not knowing much about computers or even having faith in my ability to use Open Office, other than as a word processor, I gave up with the Java quest. Today it hit me, I can just make a master folder for my film Archive. I can make text files within the master folder. Each film gets a text file made for it. I can make a text template to paste in each text folder to standardize the info. Now I have an easy-to-use database that is alphabetized and searchable. And If I want to get fancy, I can make the folders suitable for JPEGs and put a few screen shots of each film in each folder. That was what a film collector did with his collection. He would take photos off the screen as he projected the films and put a handful of photos in each film entry. (Although he used fancy database software of some sort for the rest of the work.) It is very easy to get screen shots when you scan a film. You just hit export on the scanner software and boom...you get 5,000 or 10,000 or 30,000 JPEG or TIFF stills. (Of course, if you want them from a scanning company, you pay a few hundred $$ extra for that service.) I can also use my system for the VHS Archive as well. Nearly a thousand VHS, VHS-C and Betamax tapes to organize. Will I do it and get it all computerized in 1990's tech?? (Or is it 1980s?) Don't know. Right now, my goal is to put all the films in the Archive in alphabetical order, label the cans and then write them down in a hand-written log. After than...who knows? But at least I'm excited I have the option if I want it. Even though I write a lot here, I'm not much for typing into the 'puter when it comes to filling out forms. But it is nice being able to search films for content; especially with the home movies that cover a multitude of content areas. <><><><> 16mm GB (Gaumont-British) Reel Selection from Daniel D. 3. I can't find out which was the first adult movie put on videotape...but these are some of the earliest ones... Selection from Daniel D. Teoli Jr. VHS / Betamax Archive Selection from Daniel D. Teoli Jr. eBay Adult Only Archive At $99 a tape, they were pretty pricey. In the early days of VHS / Beta porn they didn't put explicit photos on the covers. They would advertise in magazines, some of them mainstream video mags. Later on, when video rental shops were widespread, and they had the 'back room' for porn tapes, covers became more explicit. In the early days of videotape rental stores, they even rented out videocassette machines. In 1972 they were renting out video equipment to film sex at home, or whatever you liked. Living through it, too bad I didn't pay more attention to that era. It would have saved some time putting the puzzle back together. NSFW link Early Video Equipment Ad 1972 D. D. Teoli Jr. A. C. : D. 4. Besides underground films, in the film Archive I go lots of old home 16mm movies. It is fascinating stuff. Wedding Sampler 1950s D.D.Teoli Jr. A C. : D.D.Teoli Jr. A.C. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Not so with the VHS Archive. Can't find much VHS home movies on eBay to buy. I gather eBay does not like people selling used prerecorded video tapes due to copyright. I was wondering if they lumped all home VHS recordings in that category. I asked on the eBay forum about it. I got lots of replies, but nothing addressing my question. But I did find out being an archivist is creepy business! ...or maybe you could classify me as a creepy fossil?
  5. An interesting clip from 'Playboy's Parties Behind the Scenes' VHS tape. Nude girls get lingerie airbrushed and painted on them by makeup artists as they get ready for the big party. The late Hugh Hefner make an appearance near the end of the clip to inspect the work. 6. Hi all, Just posting this here having previously received some invaluable insight on diffusion filters from the forum before. Please forgive me if this request is inappropriate for general discussion, I will post in a different section if that's more suitable. I am primarily a photographer, but wanted to do an image series based on stills from old (but not necessarily ancient) Camcorder footage. I was looking for possible second hand equiptment options, and came across the Sony Digital 8 cameras, and noticed they have an option for 'stills' - seemingly to take single shot photos as opposed to continuos filmed footage. Being of the digital camera era I have a lot of gaps in knowledge of analogue filming specifics, particularly this sort of technology that seems to be a bridge between the analogue and film eras, so I am curious - do these 'still' images have the sort of analogue softness typical to camcorder filmed footage (examples of I guess what I mean below, although I am sure it would be possible to get slightly better clarity than seen in these), and am I along the right lines looking at Sony d8 cameras etc, or are does this 'still' functionality simply very primitive digital photos like you might have got from a mobile phone a few years back, and is not directly relateable to the continuos filmed look produced of the cameras? The use of tapes etc in these cameras has me very confused! Any help very gratefully received!
  7. Hey guys! I'm exploring the lofi side of film starting with Super8 (Pro8mm is currently modding my Canon 1014XLS). I'm also trying to find a RELIABLE, vintage VHS camcorder. I was thinking about the JVC GR-C7 but heard that parts are impossible to find. I'm curious if anyone knows a. Someone willing/able to work on these models? or b. A camera with that "look" but that might be easier to maintain long term? And no, I'm not going to use filters to recreate the look. Just wanted a fun, quick way to shoot real VHS film for a few niche videos I'm working on. Thanks!
  8. Hi Folks: Maybe I posted this in the wrong place. I originally posted this in the visual effects section, and I'm thinking maybe that wasn't right as this isn't a big effect like multilayering or CG animatics. I have a friend who is doing a mockumentary and he wants to use some VHS video that I shot back in the 90's of a 70's party on a single chip consumer VHS camcorder. I want to make it look like VHS from a 70's tube camera and I thought about playing it on a flat screen and shooting it on a tube camera. I did something similar with some digital video and a super 8 camera with Ektachrome and made quasi news film.I thought about doing the same here, but I really want the tube look. I want to see those comet trails on the disco ball.
  9. I'm looking to take some video shot in the 90's on a VHS camcorder of the era and I want to make it look like it was shot on one of the first single tube home video camera/VHS deck combos, circa 1978-80.
