  1. Hi, I am sorry if this questions is pretty vague. you can answer with any all along the lines of technology, character traits, knowledge of the medium, and anything else anyone finds useful and thinks I should know. Thank you
  2. Hi Im about to get a new camera today as a gift, but dont know what to get exactly yet. Can any give me advice and suggestions for digital cameras around $500 and what I should look for in a camera? Thank you
  3. Hello Everyone, My name is Alex Mitchell and I am an aspiring camera-assistant hoping to hit the ground running after I graduate from my film school (FSU Film) in December. I've spent over 3,000 hours on set working both ATL and BTL jobs on professional and film school sets. I chose to specialize in camera-assisting because it combines my best qualities into one job: a deep passion and knowledge of cameras and lenses, appreciation for capturing beautiful moments (in focus!), and endurance. I read the blogs on this site and I love all the knowledge you all share, and I was hoping if you could share with me some of your knowledge. I plan on moving out to L.A around January 2014 after I graduate and start working as a freelance camera assistant. I already have some connections through my film school but I would like to work someplace where I can connect with other professionals too. I would like to land an internship/job working at Panavision or any other camera rental house. I know they don't just hand out those jobs, but I'm determined to get one. If you have any type of advice for someone like me please let me know. I have a couple of months before I move out there, so I am just gathering information that will help me down the road. My resume is on my website if you'd like to check it out and I'll attach it onto this thread too for your convenience. Thank you for you time and I look forward to your responses. alexmitchellfilm.wix.com/apictureisworth Film Resume.pdf
  4. My goal is to be a master at visual storytelling. I'm captivated by light and shadow, by using moving images to share an idea. I'm a novice filmmaker and have a long way to go before I'm an expert at any aspect of filmmaking -- but the passion and commitment to learn are ever present. What avenues of education and experience do you believe lead to a greater understanding of visual storytelling through film? What are your most powerful memories or impressions of making a film? How have those moments shaped or guided you as a filmmaker? Thank you in advance for what you have to share. I'm excited to learn and grow! Holly
  5. I've just finished my first demo reel online: check it out here I'm looking for feedback on the reel itself and some advice on the industry. I know its hard to share where I'm at, but I'm looking on advice for my next step in the industry. This is my second year out of high school. I choose to not go film school, but right now I'm a little lost in what my next step should be and am second guessing my decision to go to film school. I feel like it would help me out in networking and meeting people. I want to do more dramatic work in short films and music videos. What are your thoughts?
