  1. Hi! I recently acquired a Eclair Cameflex 35mm camera. It came with a motor but unfortunately it is a 3 phase motor. I've looked on eBay but no luck there. Anyone selling a motor that is capable of 24/25 fps or can direct me in the right direction? Kind regards.
  2. This is a bit specific so I might not get a response, but has anyone ever adapted Leica m-mount lenses to a c-mount cine camera? There are adapters out there, and the flange distance appears to allow this to happen, but I’m still a little unsure as to if it’ll work perfectly. The fact that Leica lenses are built for cameras that don’t have a mirror, and I’m attempting to adapt it to a camera that has a mirror, seems backwards. Usually you can’t adapt mirrorless/rangefinder lenses to SLR lenses (while maintaining infinity focus). Additionally, I know m-mount lenses that are wider than 50mm perform poorly on mirrorless cameras like a Sony Alpha, but I think that’s a digital-only problem. For context, I have an Eclair ACL for which I have two Zeiss Superspeeds. I’m going to be purchasing a Leica 50mm soon for photography work (most likely the Summilux ASPH), and I would really like to use it on the 16mm cam as essentially a telephoto, close-up lens.
  3. Hello there ! I am wondering about the scan part of the production for upcoming tests on an eclair gv16. Am i suppose to ask to the lab to make the Scan or TC at regular 25fps recommendation or am i missing something ? I understand that it is good to match the frame rate to the scan/TC 'rate' for 25 fps and under, but for the rest, i don't have an idea. thanks in advance Jordan
  4. Hi! My name is Pietro Brunelleschi. young dp from Italy. Recently my Eclair npr motor broke down and now I'm looking for another one in Europe while I'm trying to bring the broke one back to life. I don't know if in Europe there are lots of motors for Eclair Npr, but I know there are like 12 kind of dirrent motor compatibles that can work with her. This one down ( image ) is my current motor. This is a request of help , of motor, ( to buy if someone has one to sell ) and also of advice if someone knows something that can help me with it. Thanks to all. Pietro Brunelleschi
  5. Looking to buy an Eclair NPR. PM me if you have any leads. Thanks~
  6. Selling some 200'and 100' Cameflex 35mm magazines for a friend. £50 plus postage for the 200's £75 plus postage for the 100's. We have 16 x 200's and 4 x 100's. They mostly look like this and are mechanically very good. So of them show exterior signs of age. They don't come with gash stock as pictured. PM me if you're interested. Cheers Marek

  8. I've asked around, read the manual, read online, called techs, and still can't get a straight answer on this one. I have an Eclair NPR with the Beala (Beauviala) crystal motor .. the manual states if the light goes on, sync is achieved and if the light is off, sync cannot be guaranteed. Elsewhere I see the exact opposite, and that the light is a warning that sync has been lost. I know this is because of the other motors that were made afterwards having different specs, but can anyone please tell me what the truth is on this one? Thank you!!
  9. Famously used by Orson Welles to shoot many shots from "Touch of Evil", dating from 1956. Over 60s years old, but in remarkably good condition. Some minor cleaning marks visible on front and rear optics. Minor dust. These do not effect the image. Casing shows signs of wear, paint loss, marks, minor scratches. None of these effect operation. Aperture works fine, but could do with a service. Focus is smooth and precise. Lens can be adapted to be used on mirrorless cameras, MFT, E-mount, L and X mount. It cannot be adapted to Canon EF or Arri PL. Lens is much in demand for rehousing to Arri PL by Zero Optik. I own three of these lenses and they are without doubt the best vintage wide angle I've ever used. Often used as a wide angle to compliment Bausch and Lomb Baltars. More photos available on request. Will post worldwide at cost. Price: £1450 ono
  10. I know this is going to sound dumb, but I have an Eclair NPR camera and I cannot find the serial number on it. I removed the motor, I looked all over the place and I couldn't find it. This specific unit was modified by Les Bosher, so they may have removed the plate or something. They changed the tourret and maybe the serial number was there. I want to send the camera to service and it would be nice to know what the serial number is so I can have more info about the camera. Thanks
  11. Hello, I am looking for an Eclair NPR Crystal Sync motor. My motor had some issues and I cannot rely on it for filming. It seems almost impossible to find one these days on eBay or in any store that sold it in the past. I am asking here to see if anyone can help to shine some light on my search. ? Thank you, Leo
  12. Yesterday I shot my first ever roll in my new Eclair NPR. It was a 400' roll of 50d, a short skit with some friends. It was really fun shooting with it and the camera was great to use, I'll remember this first roll. What were your first experiences with the Eclair NPR? What did you shoot? How did it go?
  13. Hi everyone, I recently bought a very early Eclair NPR from France, serial no 199. The lens turret on it is a c-mount on both bottom and top mounts which is quite uncommon. Does anybody know where I could get a turret that has the Cameflex mount or know someone who might have one or a parts camera that I could have one off? Kind regards Aren
  14. Currently trying to track down any kind of a battery (non functioning is fine) w/cable for eclair ACL 1 or 1.5 (original 4-pin jaeger connector) or even just a 4 pin jaeger connector to fashion a new cable, already have two batteries with XLR out, just need the jaeger end (original cable was fried) neither Bernie at Super16inc nor Andrew at AZ spectrum seem to have any stock so checking here, much appreciated!
  15. Just want to know for sure while I’m planning a project. Can I switch lens (in daylight) while in the middle of a 16mm 400’ roll? My camera, an Eclair ACL, doesn’t have a multi-turret design. Does the shutter protect the rest of the roll (as long as the camera isn’t running)?
  16. Hi there, I believe that this is probably something that has been discussed before. But I hope there are some new things that can be brought up with this question. I have an upcoming project in the fall, and the director and I have decided that we want to have the anamorphic look for a short we will be making. Now the flares are not the most important thing, but rather the vast image that we are going for. The problem is how to achieve it. First idea would be to use my own S16 Eclair ACL, with an PL adapter, and we were considering renting pure 1.33x anamorphics. But as far as I know, the only ones to rent at the Hawk's, and they would cost us pretty much the complete production budget to get a set. Second idea we had is to use a R16 Arriflex SR and put Kowa 2x on it. The real issue here would just be the wider shots, since we basically loose all the width in the image. Third idea is to invest in a Panasonic AG-LA7200 adapter, with a 0.25 diopter, and use B4 lenses on the ACL to get the image we are going for. I also have a person that can make a M4/3 adapter for the ACL, so any M4/3 solution would work as well, but honestly I am open to any ideas you might have. And yes, both me and director are 100% set on shooting on film stock. C
  17. I'm looking for an ACL ii. Super or reg, Is anybody looking to get rid of one, or know where I could get one? Besides ebay I mean. Thanks
  18. Just got an ACL today. Seems to be working fine. I think this ACL is equipped with the heavy-duty motor (but not the fancy crystal sync at all speeds motor). The speeds increase when I turn the fps dial. But there’s this blank option. When I turn to it, it makes the motor go really slow, like slower than 8fps. What is that? I’ve included a photo.
  19. I’m soon going to buy an Eclair NPR, but I want to confirm first: can modern lens mounts be adapted to c-mount? There are a lot of adapters available (like this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/577757-REG/bower_va304_c_mount_for_nikon.html), but most forum threads I’ve seen insist on getting the cameflex mount changed to PL instead of adapting lenses to the c-mount. Is the c-mount too weak to hold non-16mm lenses? Does it not accommodate enough space for other mounts?
  20. I actually own two 35mm movie cameras and I have to rent them out to other indie filmmakers /cinematographers who have trouble finding analog gear. Any places in the Hollywood area thats rents analog movie cameras anymore? Most every rental house I have checked in the LA area that used to carry analog movie cameras have either gone out of business or they have a very spare selection of analog film cameras maybe a ARRICAM and thats it. Or the rental won't rent to you unless you have the backing of a major movie studio. Any rental houses with a good selection of analog gear out there still friendly to indie / low budget filmmakers? There used to be quite a few ... now hardly any, almost every rental house is 98% digital. I know there are still filmmakers shooting film because I just saw Star Wars! Purchasing movie cameras is a different story though!! Plenty of places I found selling vintage 35mm and 16mm analog film cameras!! Maybe that is the only option these days.
  21. G’day all, I’m on the hunt for a motor for an Eclair ACL. Preferably the higher speed one, but not fussed at this point, just grateful if anyone can please point me the direction of one at all.
  22. Hi everyone! I'm a young filmmaker that has recently decided to dedicate myself completely to shooting on film. I've been shooting 16mm for years, but have never owned a camera myself. I've decided to invest in a camera as I'm always on the go, and to keep borrowing cameras is getting too complicated. I'm searching for either an Eclair ACL II or the Aaton LTR 54 (also open to LTR 7).
  23. Hi, looking for an Eclair ACL package, preferably in Europe. 16 or s16 converted is fine, no ultra 16 thought thanks. On a bit of a budget so so don’t need a massive package, enough to start shooting though preferably. Feel free to message here or email me at jackcurtisdop@gmail.com. thanks
  24. Hi all, I'm looking to purchase an orientable Angenieux viewfinder for the Eclair NPR. I have the original Kinoptic viewfinder which is being laser brightened soon, but I would love to have an orientable vf in the kit. Let me know if anyone has any leads! Thank you, Tristan
  25. Hi there, I finally have gotten my Eclair ACL kit to work, and it has been out on a handful of jobs. I love it. Thing is, I am now making a video tap for it, to try to modernize and make it an alternative to the alluring SR's, and 416's of the world. One issue though is that the repairman that made my conversion, Bernie at Super 16 Inc, made the frame lines by hand. And that's all good for myself using it privately, but it does come across as a bit unprofessional in the working world. My question is, is there anyone in the Los Angeles area that potentially could make me a custom ground glass to replace what I already have in the camera? Preferably someone that knows Aatons internals (since they are basically an Eclair). //C
