I am shooting a project with an aaton XTR (super 16) and zeiss prime lenses. I will use the 9.5, 25, and 50 lenses. Due to my restrained budget I must chooses between the 12 or 16. Which one should I keep? If you had to choose bewteen the 12 and 16, which one would you pick?

I had a cinematographer friend, whom I trust, advise me on a similar situation and his advice was to go with the 9.5, 12, 16, and 25 and skip the 50. His reasoning being the first four will cover almost anything you will need to shoot.

Just a thought.

Tim,

I think that is good advice.

If this were for my own project I would be inclined to skip the 16mm too. It's too "middle of the road" and the gap between 9.5 and 25 is too great. I'd rather move in closer with the 12 or back up with the 25 if it were a question of framing...

But that's "just me" & I don't know what your job requirements are...
