buying and upgrading a camera

Hello, I am looking into buying a film camera. I was looking at a few different Arri S packages and was wondering a few things. Can the S be converted into super 16 and if it can what kind of expenses am I looking at. Also, one of the cameras is an older model that does not have a bayonet mount and I was wondering if that would cause me any problems if I was planning on converting to super 16? Also, any advice about buying a camera in general would be appreciated.

Upgradin an ARRI S to S16 is not an easy matter. The guys at Du-All are working on a process, last I heard it'd be like $2500.00 or so, but it might have changed.

 

And yes, you would want the SB, because most S16 lenses (that aren't already in PL mount) are in Arri Bayo mount.

Is it possible to convert a lens mount on the older Arri S to a bayounet mount, then to super 16 from there? If I did this would I absolutely have to get new lenses?
