Lav Bodnaruk
HiI own an arri 2c 35mm camera, an arri bl super 16 camera,... Hey Thanasis, did you convert the camera yourself or through someone? Care to elaborate on how you made your Arri BL 16 a SUPER 16 unit? I know Aranda Group in Melbourne do it, but i have never actually seen one convereted. Being that I own one, i am quite curious. Cheers,
Tomas Koolhaas
Hi, I bought an Aaton LTR 7 (Super 16mm) and got it upgraded with PL mount, internal videotap, new markings on ground glass and generally had older parts replaced with newer ones here and there. I have used the camera quite a lot and subsequently made way more on those shoots than I would have without the camera (I have one rate for me with, and another without camera). And since I can give projects a good deal on the camera they are willing to shoot S16, whereas before they might have wanted to shoot HD or HDV. This helps me because I have more good looking film footage on my reel, as opposed to good looking digital. Having a camera is expensive though, there is always something else you will want to add or do to it. And stuff breaks, obviously, so expect to put a large amount back into your package, at least in the begining. Having said that, if you have a good amount of contacts/work coming in, I reckomend getting one, I haven't regreted it once. Cheers.

Cheers, I am telling the story of this camera in "16 mm subforoum" BTW i never bought this camera, was given to me as super 16 camera. The story of the camera is that this camera came out from arri as a super 16 camera. For the trouth i have never ask "arri germany" about that. By the side of the cameras body there is a mark sculpted not prinded witch wrights "arri bl super 16".
Michael Morlan
Well I've gone and done it. I reserved Red One #414. I've been avoiding owning any cameras for the last two years due to the volatility of the market, general trend away from film (which used to be a good investment) and unrealistic pricing ladders of the Sony's and Panasonics. Now, I'm planning to buy a camera that doesn't even exist yet.

Greg Kowal
im very new to filmmaking.. actually the only movies i have ever made were 8mm stupid family filming with lots of shaking and zooming in ... :) but i`ve been interested in movies for a long time and only recently have been trying to learn some cinematography. Got some books , read a lot on many forums, and watch bunch of dvd movies to understand angles, framing, movements of camera and all that stuff. I`m planing on buying my camera.. sony hvr-v1u (the reason i chose this camera is 24p and true 1080 picture) I can`t wait to get it and start shooting.. :) (and btw. I would also love to meet some people in New York who are into cinematography as well..)
JOHN LONGENECKER
December 24, 2006 Hello Jean-Marie Delorme: In about 1990 and thereafter I bought several 16mm MOS Cameras. 1. H16 Bolex RX-4 2. Canon Scoopic 16M 3. Beaulieu R16 I also bought some Super 8 Film Cameras 1. Canon 1014XL-S 2. Canon 1014E 3. Nizo 801 Macro 4. Beaulieu 4008 Pro I set-up a simple camera rental service and listed the cameras in LA411 and rented the cameras to music videos and commercials. After some time Directors invited me to shoot second unit on music videos and TV spots. One music video director brought me onboard on more than 15 music videos. He later directed an independent feature movie and invited me to shoot as second unit DP and Secodn Unit Director -- and I joined the Directors Guild of America as a Director. JAMES GLENNON, ASC was working as a Camera Assistant and Camera Operator and in about 1975 he bought an Eclair NPR 16mm camera. That led to his work as a DP on his first feature. His father, Bert Glennnon, bought a B&H 35mm hand crank camera in the 1920s and that led him to his work as a DP. So, here we are in 2006. My recommendation to anyone interested in making movies: Get your own gear to shoot and edit 2006 1. Buy a HD Digital Video Camera 2. Buy an Apple Mac with video editing software Start shooting and editing. One thing leads to another. Buy Film Cameras 16mm - buy an Arri ST - MOS 16mm - by an Arri SR - sound Super 16 -- buy an Eclair ACL - sound -- buy an Eclair NPR - sound -- buy an Aaton A-Minima - sound -- buy a Bolex Super 16mm - MOS 35mm -- Arri IIC - MOS At some point in becomes a matter of your budget. That's it! Stay Tuned.
