AATON LTR 7 Super 16 camera

Hello,

I'm selling my beloved AATON LTR 7 :(

Before it goes on ebay...

Description and condition:

- AATON LTR 7 Super 16 body, Super 16 factory built. Super 16 ground glass with 4/3 frame. 32fps max. Time Code board removed (unusable nowadays). AATON mount.

The body works fine and the registration is rock steady. The viewfinder conformity is perfect.

Cosmetically it is in good condition but has some scratch on paint. The wear is relative to its age. With a new paint it would be perfect.

Serial : C954

- Super 16 400' Magazine, Made for Super 16 in AATON factory. Dual drive, can be used on any XTR or LTR body. This mag works fine and does not scratch the film at all. Light proof is perfect too. It is in good condition but has paint scratchs as the body. Serial M2380

- Filmtel battery charger, two outputs for AATON batteries. Looks used but works fine.

- AATON LTR case for 2 mags, one camera body, 2 batts, accessories... Good condition.

- Sound barney, in good condition.

- Nikon to AATON mount adapter, perfect condition (AATON made)

Camera history :

I bought this camera recently from its first owner. He kept it for many years before he decided to sell it. This camera was serviced by Camera Engineering AATON agant in UK. It was over the moon when I bought it since it is a great Super 16 camera. I shot only twice with it and I was really happy using it. The pictures I shot with it were great... BUT, it doesn't totally suit my needs and I want to upgrade. So, as money doesn't grows on trees, I take advantage not having any shooting at the time to sell it. And I already know I'll miss it...

Finally, if you are interested, please make me an offer for any part or for the whole. I'll ship anywhere in the world but buyer will pay for shipping.

I can send you pictures of the camera as well as a viewfinder conformity film scan and a link to a film sample.

To my knowledge, Camera Engineering is not an official Aaton agent. The official UK Aaton agent is ICE Film. Camera Engineering simply states that they specialize in Aaton cameras, but are not factory authorized to work on them.

I am in no way detracting from your camera's fitness which could very well have been serviced expertly as there are many non-Agents capable of servicing the older cameras. I just wanted to make a correction.

Hello Nathan,

I never paid attention to that fact but I have to admit that you're right. Camera Engineering is an independant AATON specialist but not the official AATON agent.

Another thing, shipping for the camera will be from France.

Is that true, Aaton made a dual drive mag? Is it both geared and magnetic driven? How does that work?

I'd be curious to see a picture of the mag's throat?

Hello Alain,

Yes, AATON made some dual drive magazines. Also I think that they used to convert classic mag to dual drive system but I'm not sure. Nathan should confirm or not. I'll take some pictures of my camera this week and I'll post one picture of the dual drive magazine. In fact there is the magnetic ring and inside there is the gear.

I can offer $1500 for your LTR. I am shooting my first film movie and am looking to purchase my first camera. You say the GG has 4:3 markings? I assume this is in the center and there are still the 16x9 markings as well? I have theoretical understanding of film cameras, but have never put all my book research to use, so I will have to trust your judgement. Would this be an acceptable camera to run a feature movie set with (I will have 30 days shooting, and 5 days prep for every 2 days shot)

What lenses will this camera accept? sounds like I can use a nikon lens, is this advisable? is it hard to get the appeture correct when there are no T-stops marked on those lenses? And how close are the barrel markings for focus with the adaptor? I know these may be generic questions, but I want the right camera to learn on. can i purchase an angneiux lens for this? Are there any that will cover the whole s16 frame?

PM me, your mailbox seems to be full.

Not knowing the actuall condition or seeing photos, thats the best offer I can make. I am not trying to screw him, but I really have a lack of knowledge about pricing. I found a few LTRs around and think that at 1500 it is worth it to me. I dunno if he would feel the same way, but we shall see I suppose. suppose he wants to help a young filmmaker out.

Yeah, pop out three screws and the magnet will pop off and you can pop in a gear in it's place. But you will need to recenter the sprocket block.

Hello there,

Here is a picture of the Dualdrive magazine. It is mechanic and magnetic at the same time as you can see. (Sorry the picture comes from a cell phone...)

Michael, I'll send you a private mail.
