David Calson
Hi, which is more educational, insightful, bang for your buck...'The Grip Book' by Uva or 'Basic Grip Book' by Uva. Basic is like $15 cheaper but by the name of the title it sounds a little 'basic.'
Premium Member Michael Nash Posted June 12, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted June 12, 2006 I only have "The Grip Book" (I'm a camera guy, not a grip), and it's mostly a list of equipment. It's not really an instructional book of how to grip or best use the tools. But you should read it anyway. When I was starting out I would read as much stuff as I could just on the shelf at the bookstore, often making several return trips to finish "my copy." Still do, on ocassion. ;)
monster vs robot
In my opinion, Harry C. Box's gaffer book is a far better book that covers many other aspects of production including gripping.
