BlakeConway
I am interested in your opinions of which is better....Vision2 500T pushed to 1000, or just 800T. I simply want the least grain and best contrast possible. Obviously, the third of a stop difference is almost negligible, but the scene is at night with a student budget light package, and I want to average at a 4 stop, hopefully 5.6 if possible. If anyone has done a side by side on these, I would love to hear your opinion. I don't have time to test. Thanks, Blake
Mitch Gross
I'd go with the 7218, I don't think much of the '89, specially in 16mm. Why do you feel the need to shoot at such a deep stop? That's a lot of light no matter what the lighting package.
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 27, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 27, 2004 Also, if you're talking about 16mm, that's grainy no matter what -- Vision-2 pushed to 1000 ASA versus Vision 800T.
Premium Member John Pytlak RIP Posted January 27, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 27, 2004 I'd go with the 7218 and try to give it as close to normal exposure as possible, but it does handle unders and push quite well too.
Fredrik Backar FSF
7218 no question! If you are going to telecine you will have all the control you need anyho... You will be amazed at the shadow detail of the 18... But why the high stop?? I like nite at around 2, a very "inexpensive" stop, counting the electricians backs into it also
stijnbarbe
I have experinece with the old 500T (7279) and even that one pushes 1 stop nicely. the 7218 is supposed to be a lot better so, I'd go for that. especially on S16mm or 16mm.
