Irreversible

Recommended Posts

I saw this film some years ago, and have always wondered how they actually shot a few of the scenes. But never got round to asking.

Does anyone here know how they did the fire extinguisher scene?

And the camera movements are pretty inetresting to, the camera seems to spin around and revolve, I didn't think you could really do that with a hand held 35mm camera. (be bloody difficult anyway)

What do you know about this film?

Thanks.

(In film A2 we're going to be studying shocking cinema... can't wait to show the class this...)

Get the DVD, you can see how they did the whole thing in the behind the scenes secton!

Really interesting stuff!

I'm on the run now or I'd post all about it...

See if you beat me with getting it out and watching it before I come back from the shoot and tell all about it :)

Oh yeah i loved how they made that movie. The fire extinguisher scene was done with FX. The top half was real but they cut out the bottom half later to be added with computers so they could make it look like there was real contact. And they say cgi is ruining movies. HA!

Yeah i remember watching that movie for the first time and noticing the camera going in and out of cabs like nothing and they never cut away.

You should def buy it and check out the behind the scenes.

most of this film is shot in 16....cropped to 2.35.....

if you really want to see shocking, try watching italian zombie films from the 70s..

or necromantic, any german underground with "necro-" in the title.... :o

oh, yeah, this film has been discussed here before. so use the search function if nobody else chimes in, or if lav gets too busy. :)

Hey hey,

you didn't get your hands on the collectors edition DVD yet?

The scene was a mix of live action, a dummy, and digital effects. With cuts of course.

I think the fire extinguisher was rubber too...

oh and most important - brilliant SOUND DESIGN :)

watch it without it... takes about 80% from it;

They also digitally added a penis to the rapist;

For more Goggle: Le Rectum' special effects featurette
