Alex Fuchs
Hello, I've seen the Video from Ok go "Do what you want" and I asked myself how they created this effect. The video is on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUE-4FbM_XI. Maybe somebody knows how this effect works? Thanks, Alex
Daniel Smith
Just looks like editing between several cameras attached to an x/y frame. And because they were short of enough cameras to cover every shot, they shot it over and over again with different framing (i.e. for the closeups they zoomed in all of the cameras, and started shooting again, turned the frame around and shot the audience) That's my best guess. I'm not exactly sure how big this band is but if it was some kind of a student music video, they could have just rented out all the cameras from their college. Which would explain why they could afford to use so many expensive cameras. My college has about 8 Sony PD-170p's, and my college doesn't even specialise in broadcast. Or failing that they had a huge budget and rented out several varicams. Edited February 19, 2007 by Daniel Ashley-Smith
