Premium Member Greg Gross Posted September 5, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted September 5, 2004 Very nice brochure in center of magazine with excellent photographs of XL2 with many close-ups of camera's controls, features. I do not like color viewfinder though! I'm used to shooting with b&w viewfinder and I can see the varying contrast with it. I wonder what a modification to b&w viewfinder would cost? Too bad they did not make it selectable as Panasonic did with the DVX-100A. Well I'm going to continue to monitor everyone's input /posts as the camera comes out and sees some use. I have a feeling though that the DVX100B(assuming Panasonic comes out with it and I think they will, compete that is)will be the camera to have. Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted September 5, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted September 5, 2004 Hi, Is the viewfinder option on the DVX an actual swap to a CRT viewfinder or, as I suspect, just a black and white option for the woefully chunky colour one? Mitch Gross
Hi, Is the viewfinder option on the DVX an actual swap to a CRT viewfinder or, as I suspect, just a black and white option for the woefully chunky colour one? Phil It's actually just a slightly modified version of the B&W CRT finder that was available for the XL-1s. The camera actually has two different finder electrical sockets to accomodate it. Aaron Koolen
Well from what I hear, the iris control is now like the GL2's one - a flick switch with spring reset - (read: awful) There is also apparently no line level in on the balanced XLR adapter - Hmmm. Combined with a non marked barrel and servo only driven focus and zoom, I'm quite disappointed so far as I've been holding out for this to see what they were going to offer, expecting something mind blowing. Obviously everything relative to price...If it was US$3500 I'd jump at it.
Premium Member Greg Gross Posted September 12, 2004 Author Premium Member Share Posted September 12, 2004 I just found out that Canon makes b&w finder for XL2. So it would have to be purchased(I'm assuming as assessory). I would not get caught dead shooting with a color viewfinder!
