anthony derose
Hey, I'm shooting a Night EXT. on a city street soon. I know 500t works great, but I'm curious how far I can go under. The sidewalk were shooting on has no street lights rather the light comes from fallout of other sources sodium vapor, neon signs, etc. I plan on motivating this light, however I want it to feel a little dimmer compared to areas that are directly lit so if I let key go one under will that be sufficent and then print down or CC to darken further? Or should I expose at key and worry about it in post? Also for real dark areas if I let them go 3 even 4 stops under will some detail be recorded? I know 500t is a fast stock good for low light situations, I just haven't used it so I'm trying to gain as much knowladge as I can.
Aleksandar Bracinac
You can easily shoot "as is", underexpose the film and then push it 1 stop for your desirable night look. I think it will be a bit grainy because it's 16mm but should have good look.
