Cinematographer's Gear

To the Dp's out there, do you always use a grey card and color chart for each mag?

Usually for the color timer's sake, I try to do one at the beginning of each new mag. Even if you plan on doing some special grading in post, it's good to have that reference for what is "normal" in reference to what you shot.

Basic DP Gear? Depends on the situation always. If you're a one man crew, the list goes on forever. If you have a good sized crew of your own, then just your lightmeter, comfy shoes, and a shoulder pad & kneepads if you're operating handheld.

I'm a fan of New Balance shoes, but find they don't breath enough for longterm comfort. Recently I've been wearing my pair of checkerboard slip-on Vans, and been incredibly comfortable on shoots. I know another DP who wears open toed Teva sandals, no matter what!
