David Venhaus
Something you might want to check out is where the "Eastman Kodak" and date codes are printed on this stock. I shot some of the 35mm version of this (2374) and they were printed right in the middle of the picture area, every half a meter or so. As this is intended as a sound recording film, that wouldn't effect its normal usage. With the 16mm (3374) I don't know where its printed, so its something you might want to find out. Justin Lovell
You're correct David.. the 35mm version is somewhat useless. The 16mm version has no such markings on the image area! There is a sample clip of some 3374 on my website too. In the Frame Discreet section under SAMPLES.

Or are their perfs on both sides? If it comes as a 1050 ft reel, are you then putting it on 16mm cores? The footage on your site looked pretty cool. Justin Lovell
Ordering it straight from Kodak. I just shot some on super 16. Single perf. I take it to a local lab (www.niagaracustomlab.com) and have 'em break it down onto 400' cores or 100' daylight loads. Thanks for the kind words. Gotta update the site... lots of new material to post!

Justin Lovell
No charge to have the film broken down. Nice guys over there at the niagara custom lab :)

Nice guys over there at the niagara custom lab :) I'd say so, I guess if you are using them for processing some labs won't mind. You are getting film for 4.6 cents a foot, besides free, that is the lowest I have ever heard of. Talk about a cheap short film. Jon
Premium Member Charles MacDonald Posted October 12, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 12, 2007 Nice guys over there at the niagara custom lab :) From my dealing with them I would rate them closer to Saints! Great Folks! Highly customer focused, and they think my Agility Dogs look great in the film I have been sending in.
Justin Lovell
Some samples of 3374.... (High Contrast Black and White on super 16 with an angenieux 5.9, and Switar POE 16-100 zoom). www.framediscreet.blogspot.com - scroll down a few posts to ON LOCATION- BBOYIN IN DUNDAS SQUARE. Man this stock is gorgeous... Just a risky one if you're not nailing your exposure. I rate it at 100ASA in my S16 Bolex.
Nate Downes
Makes me wish I was a student. *edit* after seeing that sample, doubly wish I was now. Dayum that's good results. I'd been wanting to shoot my feature on B&W anyways... Edited May 18, 2008 by Nate Downes
