Bjorn Koling
Hi, Im shooting a musicvideo with a 60P varicam next month in the US and most of it will be 50fps for double speed playback sync. Back home in europe I´ll downconvert to SD on a panasonicdeck and framerateconverter to 25P. Whats the correct setting on the camera to shot 50fps? (60Hz or 59Hz) Also am I likely to get flickering lights at any of these Hz settings? (Im using lots of dischange and neonlights) thanks Björn (sweden)
Premium Member John Ealer Posted October 15, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 15, 2007 In this case, System Freq would be set to 60hz, since you'll then get a true 50fps. (If you set it to 59.94, then your 50fps would actually be 49.95 fps.) You will have the possibility of getting flicker in low-frequency or non-flicker free fixtures unless you set your shutter to 150 degrees, i.e. 1/120th sec., or 300 degrees, i.e. 1/60th sec.
