Premium Member Chris Keth Posted October 28, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 28, 2007 I'm in the middle of the DVDs of the first and only season of the sci-fi series firefly. It's a funny, nice looking series. Lots of variety of locations and looks. There are a few particulars I was wondering about and someone or another here always seems to know the answers: 35mm, right? It seems to have that look but I've been surprised before. What lenses and filtration, anyone know? There is a huge variety of flares in the show and I'm wondering if they're natural and they chose lenses with that in mind because they liked the look or if they're just added in post to be cool. Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted October 28, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 28, 2007 On imdb it says Mark II Superspeed Lenses. That would be the Panavision variety.
Premium Member Chris Keth Posted October 28, 2007 Author Premium Member Share Posted October 28, 2007 Those are multicoated or are they old enough to be single coated? I watched another episode and in one scene someone has a very hot (burnt out white) edge across his shoulder and neck and there was a little double image of it. I like the look a lot in places. Jonathan Bowerbank
In a related story, did anyone see "Serenity"? And was it supposed to be funny? I laughed the entire time. It was like a 2 hour Buffy episode.
Stas Tagios
American Cinematographer has an online article about David Boyd's fantastic cinematography for "Firefly": http://www.theasc.com/magazine/feb03/firefly/index.html

Angel was one of my favorite shows...
