Charlot Vega
Does anyone know any major differences between these cameras? (besides rental price... (the plus is less)) thx, c
Premium Member Nathan Milford Posted October 30, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 30, 2007 Assuming the XTRplus in question is a tri-phase XTRplus (meaning it goes to 75fps): The XTRprod has interchangeable viewing screens, the XTRplus does not. The XTRprod has Aatonite (aka Arriglow, Panaglow), the XTRplus does not. The XTRprod can accept magazined programed from A-E, the XTRplus only A-C. The XTRprod has a more elaborate side display than the XTRplus. For all intents and purposes they are mechanically the same thing and will produce the same results. They load the same, take the same lenses and accessories. etc.. Older versions of the XTRplus or plain XTR will only reach 60 and 54fps respectivly and require 16v batteries to get to higher speed. Mitch Gross
Prod can shoot up to 75fps. Some Plus cameras can only go to 54. Prod has built in precision speed control. Prod has more controls on the LCD display. Prod has variable shutter. Prod has larger viewfinder optics. Prod can take better color video taps. Prod has interchangeable groundglass with frameline illumination.

Premium Member John Brawley Posted October 31, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted October 31, 2007 And the prod has built in speed control to three decimal places, on a plus you would need an external controller. And the prod has built in phase shift too. jb
