Elite Sperical 35mm lenses ???

Hi,

Elite Spherical 35mm lenses seems really nice for the price....S4 type housing, wide choice of focal lengh...but what about lenses quality?

Anybody have tried those lenses on optical bench or in real conditions?

What about definition, contrast, flare, performances wide open (1.3)...

Nice glass. Not as good as UltraPrimes or Cooke S4s, but they are far better than SuperSpeeds and they are true T1.3.

Not really, at least not without going into a detailed optical dissertation. We've tested these lenses extensively and matched them up against various others in our facilities. There are lots of factors involved in making a lenses and evaluating performance, and what is important to some may be meaningless to others. They are nice lenses and certainly well ahead of the old Zeiss Superspeeds, but not quite as good as the Cooke S4s or the UltraPrimes. To say more would mean that I would have to say a LOT more.

Hi, I see it's a very old conversation, but may be re-activated...

 

I would like to compare some sets of lenses and would like your opinion on what do you consider to be potentially meningfull to describe a lens and also how to clasified that for it's performance.

 

When testing a lens, we may consider global quality image impression, sharpness, internal difraction, flair and ghost aspect, brightnes, quality of the optical correction of some aberations, etc. What are your personal feelings to those parameters when chosing a set of lens for a type of cinematografic project and camera?
