How is the future for DI Colorist?

I asked that question to a college friend a few years ago who has been an outstanding colorist in Los Angeles for years.

 

I was asking because of digital desktop products that seem to always be coming out.

 

His short anwser was there will always be a need for color correction no matter what the technology being used.

There will always be a need for good colorists, yes. Film or HD, most medium to high budget films now are color corrected digitally.

 

And at least the field is not as crowded as the DP field is. ;)

 

These days one can't throw a rock out a window without hitting a DP . . .

DPs r also technicians in a way....so if ur idea is good it will be heard and seen, don't be pessimistic
