Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 5, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 5, 2004 There are scenes that are shot on video but it still looks like Super-16 to me.
Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted November 6, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 6, 2004 Did they switch from Super-16 this season? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As far as I know they did. I'm not sure exactly where I heard that though, so I could be wrong. But I distinctly remember hearing that they made the switch. I think it may have even been on this forum. Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 7, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 7, 2004 I was referring to this past season. Don't know about the upcoming one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In that case, it definitely looks like Super-16 is the predominant format. But, to be fair, I haven't read anything about how the show is shot since it first came on.

They shot super 16 originally, and then switched to HD....or at least that's what I heard. I rarely see the show, so I can't comment on whether it looks like HD or film. Guest Andy Sparaco
Here is a Kodak blurb on "The Shield" http://www.kodak.com/country/US/en/motion/...3/shieldP.shtml Edited November 8, 2004 by Andy Sparaco
Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 8, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 8, 2004 I watched an episode last night and it did look a lot less grainy than Super-16 normally would. Much cleaner than the original look. So I really don't know what they're shooting. Maybe we should just read the article and believe Rohn Schmidt. :)

Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 9, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 9, 2004 If there were a date on that article it would be much clearer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was in the October 2003 issue of In Camera. So they must be referring to this past season, no?

Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 10, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted November 10, 2004 Seems like it. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe not. The episodes I've been watching are from two seasons ago. Very little grain. They look like they could definitely be either 35mm or HD. Maybe Schmidt played with a different format, then switched back to Super-16.

I'll ask around and let you know if I find out anything definitively.
