Judging Film Roll Out

Does anyone have any clever tricks to better judge the end of a roll on Krasnogorsk K3?

 

The feet counter on my camera isn't fantastic and in noisy environments its hard to hear.

Since with a K3 you'll always have 100 foot rolls, you can use a stopwatch. 100 feet of 16mm runs for 2:46.

It sounds and feels different... less like a sewing machine. Keep a hand on the top of the camera if handheld and you'll feel the reel spinning (like a low thud or rumbling) but not feel the shutter. Hope that helps. Just shoot a few rolls and it will be apparent.
