barryagilbert
Wondering if anyone has any experience using anamorphic lenses on the RED - in particular Hawk V or C series lenses. Thanks!
Mike Simpson
they should work fine. You either crop the sides and use anamorphic lenses, or crop the top and bottom and use spherical lenses. Basically the debate goes the same direction as it does for 35.
Guest Stephen Murphy
I was looking at some Hawk series V-Plus lenses on a RED the other day, looked great btw. I shot a minute or two worth of test footage that I'll post on my blog in the next day or so. Personaly i was just testing to see what the lenses flared like rather then what a RED /Anamorphic workflow would be like but i know its been done by others, I'd imagine you'd need to carry some wide anamorphics though. Matt Workman
If you search the RED forum there are a few posts. No Panavision C-Series that I've seen though. Nick owns a set of LOMO Anamorphics and his last few videos have been RED. http://www.pixelloft.com/new/ Main issues are desqueezing the image for operating and then of course the same issues you have with shooting anamorphic in general.
