Colin Harrington
I'm looking into getting some Litepanels Minis for on camera lights in handheld documentary work. I've used the 5600K flood versions before, and really like the little buggers. I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the spot versions vs the floods. How does sliding some diffusion into the spots compare? Or if anybody has a completely different on camera light they love for follow the subject around / low impact documentary work, please share. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted December 4, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted December 4, 2008 I got the cheap Micro Litepanel and have used it quite a bit for a little eyelight. I think it only comes with daylight LED's in spot configuration, so I've always had the diffuser panel in place, plus the CTO correction for tungsten-lit scenes. With both the diffuser and the CTO, it's a nice bit of low-light fill but not bright enough to be an on-camera key (which I wouldn't do in most cases anyway.) The Micro uses four AA batteries and is very lightweight.
Colin Harrington
I hadn't really given the Micro as much consideration as I should have. Running on AAs is a big plus, as well as the weight and cost. Thanks for the recommendation.
