Hello,

Your footage is really nice ! It's a good idea to compare all the stocks you tried.

I saw that there is a small excerpt shot with a kowa anamorphic lens.

I bought one this year that I have not yet used and was really impressed by your exemple because i've never seen a good sample of an anamorphic s8 work.

That would be so nice that you send us a longer footage of what you've shot with the anamorphic lens setup on Vimeo.

Thank you in advance and all the best for 2009.

Thank you Damien. I only had a short portion I tested, but did some more with 200T that's in the lab right now. Will post shortly. Have a great year!!

HAH!!! I LOVED IT!!!

Plus, I saw the Forest Hills subway sign which was real cool to me, because I lived in Kew Gardens for a bunch of years.

I've said it before and I'll say it again--the Super 8 forum is SO much cooler than 16, where I spend all of my time. I'm a rank amateur with a 16mm K3 arsenal, with a long background in still work, but your Plus-X and Tri-X footage REALLY touched me, and confirmed my original plan to only shoot b&w reversal.

OUTSTANDING!!! And GORGEOUS!

Thanks Ira. I lived for a number of years in Astoria, but spent quite a bit of time in Kew Gardens and at a relatives home in Rego Park. Next time I'm there I'll take some footage around Austin Street and the neighborhood. Any place you'd like me to visit and shoot?

Boy--it's been so long.

There used to be a bar on Austin and Lefferts called "Bailey's"--where Kitty Genovese was killed way back--but I doubt it's still in business. But that street is fantastic, nice and winding:

If you start right at the end of Austin there and Lefferts, and walk down the street/hill toward Metropolitan (not towards Queens Boulevard), on the left used to be a porn theater, and further down the block on the same side a great restaurant named Regents Row. Again, I DOUBT that's the same place (next to a little supermarket), but right across the street on Lefferts is an outstanding Italian restaurant owned by Albanians, named Danny's.

Sigh--where do the years go? I loved that neighborhood, because not only could you walk to everything, but the LIRR and subway were real close too. Used to also just walk to Forest Hills, too.

Here in Florida, you have to get in the car in pick up a damn newspaper! And although I don't miss the snow and cold up there, I sure miss the food. It STINKS down here compared to NY, and the WORST place up THERE is still better than the BEST place down HERE.

That's so nice ! I love your footage. I've got 200T in my fridge, can't wait to load it in my camera :)

However, it's seems that you don't apply the correct aspect ratio or maybe it's from vimeo's side. On the footage the cars are skinny and the basket ball is oval.

Thanks a lot for posting this so quickly.

Here's some footage of your old stomping grounds I just got back. I've been to Austin St in Forest Hills but never down this street. It was like a neighborhood out of time and place in NYC. Winding and serene. We managed to stop at Dani's for some Italian food then Homestead for strudels.

The porn theater is now a small theater that runs indie-ish films. You won't find the usual fare playing there. I saw "House of Sand and Fog" there back in 2003. This link is to there website:

The Nizo S560 I used gave me some underexposed footage, hence the lack of quality on some shots. I tried to make up for it in postl. Don't know if it was the auto exposure and the cold weather, or of it was that I was shooting after 4pm where the sun was very low on the horizon with a lot of shadows on the buildings. I might just try it again some time, but with some 200T.
