Adapting M42 lenses to PL mount.

Hi,

I was wondering about the possibilities of remounting, recollimating or adapting old M42 lenses to fit a PL mount for use on an Arri. Is it possible? in fact i did stumble over a few old lenses with very unique optical qualities like rendition of colours, soft contrast (yet tack sharp), coma etc..

I would like to know, if it is possible to do the above, and to what extent it is practical.

In short, Yes. I had an adapter for this purpose. Because of the difference in FFD, the m42 lenses need to sit down inside of the mount about 10mm, and only a handful of lenses are skinny enough to sit inside of the PL mount adapter. There are a lot of older ziess mid-range and telephoto lenses that do fit though.

I Agree with Hunter. Aranda group in Au. may carry them. Les Bosher in the UK can manufacture one if he doesn't have it stock.

Les Bosher can also make a 1.4X or 2X extender-converter for use with larger lenses.
