Brian Drysdale
i am going to buy some lights for a super 8 film and have seen some which are in budget but say they are designed for digital slr and video, i don't know much about lighting and was wondering if this would have any effect on the outcomecheers I assume you're referring to open face tungsten Redhead lights (800/1000watt depending on voltage). These were originally designed for location film & TV production rather than digital SLRs (which didn't exist then), so there won't be any problems using them with super 8 film. However, although Redheads do throw out a good amount of light for their wattage, the downside is that they're not that controllable compared to Fresnel spotlights. There are different manufacturers who the generic term Redhead. Make sure you get a safety glass with these lights, the bulbs can explode on occasions and you don't want to burn the talent with molten glass. Bryant Jansen
Not that this question is illegitimate, but I feel it would be better suited for the Beginning and Student Filmmaker forum, or even the 8mm specific forum. Bryant Jansen
