Dave Bourbois
I know this has been discussed already, as far as weight and just essentially defeating the purpose of a lightweight camera, but what's up with the Cine 60 blimp? How light is that compared to the other blimps, and are there any draw backs? -Dave
Mitch Gross
I'm not sure that I'm familiar with the details of the Cine-60 blimp. I think they're still in business in the Film Center Building on 9th Ave. in NYC. But any camera blimp is going to be heavy and unwieldy and generally a huge pain in the ass. It will not allow for modern lenses, it won't properly fit modern motors, there won't be a proper interface for a follow focus, there will not be an orientable eyepiece and the damn thing will weigh a ton. No matter how good a deal someone could get, a 2c setup with a blimp will end up running at least 6 grand to get going. I've seen Arri BL-1 packages going for as low as 8 grand, and it's so much more camera for the money.
Brett Juskalian
The Cine Blimp is, I believe fiberglass. I own a 2C and was interested in buying a blimp housing until I saw one and learned it couldn't accomodate my motor base or modern lenses. It seems like a far too limiting piece of gear for the money.
