Greetings,

Many of you have asked me when my indie feature film would be available in the USA. Well as of today it's available every where to buy or rent.

I really can't complain about this level of distribution, few indie movies get this kind of coverage. So thank-you USA!

Wow Richard, Just think how you would have done if you had shot on RED instead of 35mm.

Oh come on now Stephen, I think he has done kind of okay in spite of having to make do with 35mm.

I bet some people won't even notice it wasn't shot on the red.

Richard just needs to get the right sunglasses and nobody will ever be the wiser. :P

love

Hey what is this thread hi-jacking?

The 35mm was definitely a major plus, no question about that.

Yo Bod...

Way to go. I'll look for it. By the way, if you don't mind sharing information, what steps did you take to secure all these mainstream DVD outlets?

Thanks.

Step 1: Sell movie to a real distributor.

Step 2: Let them handle it all.

It really is the best route. The larger distribution companies have access to all the retail outlets, plus they have an army of sales, marketing, shipping, duplication, people etc etc.

Well done Richard, a triumph of perseverance, inspiration and perspiration?

Ever thought of doing a documentary on how you got it there?

Might be an inspiration to all of us wannabes.

Kieran.

All of the above I would say

I have a making of style of short on the DVD. Shows other filmmakers how certain VFX where done and may rationale behind different parts of the movie.

As for a doc on this project, I think Robert Rodriguez did a much better job than I ever could with his Rebel Without A Crew book.

Congrats Richard. So, when will we become too small for you to associate with. I kind of look forward to the day when I can complain drunkenly to strangers in a bar that I used to know that Boddington SOB back when he was just a regular guy. "Now, he won't even loan me a twenty spot for drinks!"

By the way, could you spare a twenty spot?

I have a long long way to go before I no longer associate with the "little people." Stephen Williams and Steve Beverly will be the first people I delete from my e-mail address book though

R,

WOW, I've always wanted a friend who was too good to associate with me. This is a major boon to my social status. Thanks Buddy!!! :D

Hmmm, you have given me an idea for a new comedy feature. Guy tries to get famous friends to cast him off so he can climb higher in the social order.

Any one know if Pauly Shore is available for the lead?

Richard,

I've done some graphics work but was really impressed by the graphics on your movie poster. Who did you hire to do this and how much did they charge?

Steven Harney

Yep, best money I spent right there.

And before I get flamed for that, well this is a business of promotion. ;)

The art is all done by Kaiser Communications in LA. I can't give out pricing info on a budget line item in a forum. But you are free to contact Kaiser and ask them for their rates.

R,

Richard,

Thanks for the info. I can understand not wanting to reveal pricing, but there's another problem. A Google search for Kaiser Communications in LA gives me everything but their site. They may be great artists but don't seem to know much about search engine optimization. ;)

Do you happen to have a web address or other contact info for them? Thanks.

Hmmm, I'm in LA at the moment on pre-pro. When I get back home I can post the web link I don't have the info with me.

Richard.

I was shopping in FYE yesterday and boom, on display, was Dark Reprieve. My girlfriend didn't understand why it was such a big deal, but it is. Congratulations, again.

Great thanks. After meeting with the US distribution company this morning I came out of their thinking how lucky I was with this project. They told me they have to convince the buyers to take each title on an individual basis. So the fact that they all took it was very fortunate indeed.

I see it's on iTunes now...and they are, so I'm told, a tough sale to make.

I'm not doing another self financed on spec project, one was enough, but it has really opened a lot of doors that is for sure.

Well it's certainly quite applaud-able Richard. Once I get some more freed up funds I'll be ordering a copy of it to give it a look, and hell, I'm all for supporting people on here when I can.

If you ever make it down to Phila, let me know, I'll get you a drink in exchange for some on-set stories/tips and tricks.
