David Stern
It is my understanding that using a dimmer on a light will change the color temperature of that light. Yes? If so, using a dimmer to lower the amount of light will not work. Better to move the light back, use an ND gel, or a net. Any thoughts (or do I have this wrong)? Thanks. Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted June 1, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2009 Just depends, some small amount of warming of color is not really critical, especially for something like a backlight, let's say. And some warming may be desirable, like to match other tungsten practicals in the room which are often 2800K or so. Plus if every light is dimmed the same amount, or the scene is lit with a single light, then you could time the excess warmth out in post if necessary.
