Best advice/lesson

I was wondering what the best lesson or piece of advice a DP has given you is. I couldn't say one for a certainty but one lesson that stuck with me is this.

My teacher showed us these pictures of a bull in sequence and asked us if we understood what it was. After each drawing the picture had less and less lines but we could always tell it was a bull. The lesson was that the audience can understand intent without having to draw every line.
