damian moon Posted August 21, 2009 Share Posted August 21, 2009 Hi every one a friend of mine ask me to direct his proyect. Its a documentary about "tango dance". There is a sript and everything. my question is. Should i follow what they ask me to do, or try to put my perpective on it. obiusly i always ask my friend before a made a change also should i frame a full frame when i shoot them dancing?? (sorry for my english) What should be the structure about a documental? (it has a comercial end, selling dvd and stuff) Any advice will be aprecieted. Ian Galindo Posted August 25, 2009 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Well it depends. Are you just simply filming the interviews and B roll? The you should follow what the director wants....for the most part. Sure, I say be creative when it comes to shooting (ie dollies, steadicam, etc), but since you won't be editing it then it won't matter how fancy you get, things will end up getting cut. Especially if you invest lots of time to get 1 shot that ends up getting cut. As for shooting the b roll of the dancers, definitely get full shots, but close ups of the face and feet as well!
