Funnily enough, an old 2007 thread just a few levels down was bounced up that exactly discusses your question.

 

If you click HERE, you will be directed to my answer to this question with pictures of the two different cameras at your disposal. I hope that clarifies the difference between ZM and ZM II.

 

As regards the waiting for a ZM II... Personally, I never considered going for a ZM because of the Schneider 11x6mm lens on the ZM II, plus the rewind feature is pretty nifty despite digital post today. It will be up to you to evaluate if that would be worth it for your filming needs.
