Guest
interesting how you guys mentioned selling your movie to netflix. How does the selling process work for selling your movie to netflix? How do they decide how much they will pay for it, what does this money entitle them to (do they own all distribution rights), etc. Anyone care to shed some light on the issue? They own the rights to sell it on NetFLIX, no other venue. If they really like your movie they'll bulk order and pay cash up front. If they don't think it will rent much, they'll take your movie on spec and pay you a percentage of the rental revenue. All distributors that deal with NetFLIX prefer the cash up front deal. They do have that self submission option, but I have yet to find a filmmaker who has succeeded via this route. If you do sell direct to NetFLIX you will have most likely cost your self a distribution deal with a distributor because they can't make a NetFLIX sale off your title once you have done it. So it's a bit of a gamble like EVERY THING in this business. R,
