Joe Riggs
I'll be shooting a short that takes place in a hospital/clinic. I'm finding it difficult to come up with ideas to make it look interesting. Any ideas or movie recommendations to get inspiration from would be great. Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted September 19, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted September 19, 2009 Hard daylight coming through windows, soft light over beds play with color (blues/cyans?/whites) illumination just from the machinery in the room (mimicked) all depends on what you're doing, ya know and the mood you're going for. Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted September 19, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted September 19, 2009 Along the lines of Adrian's recommendations, keep the windows hot and let the foreground go dark for a more contrasty look. You could play with toppy fluoros above the hospital beds but keep them skirted off the walls. Or hard "sunlight" bounced off the floor for a soft uplight. See if you can fit some practicals into the frame. Use some haze or a smoke filter. Mix colors. One trick I saw a gaffer use on a recent shoot was to take a single 4' kino tube heavily taped up with 2" matte black and placed on the side of the bed for a very subtle key on the child actor sitting by the bed. "A History of Violence" has some wonderfully lit night interior hospital room scenes.

virendrakhanna
Agree with Adrin. Every thing depend upon what you are doing and which camera you are using. Just a hospital wars or Doctors room. Well in most of the situations, I feel Kinoflo works very well. My experience, I just shot a film On SONY HDCAM HDW F-900, I mostly use avilable light with Kino to fillin wherevr I was require more light or Fill light. Hope this will work. :D
