Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted September 21, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2009 Here are some new lenses. Cooke Pancro T2.8 & Cooke S5's both beautifully made with great marks. Zeiss Compact Prime Good markings as expected from Zeiss Schnieder (Jans Cheap German Primes) They do extend from the mount end, needs more markings but witness marks good. Red the picture says it all.
Andy_Alderslade
"Red the picture says it all." Ha ha, no markings between 6' and 10' on a 50mm, that's quite a big gap.... Edited September 21, 2009 by Andy_Alderslade
Premium Member Satsuki Murashige Posted September 21, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Hi Stephen, Thanks for the pics. Have you played with the focus and iris on the Cooke Panchros and S5's? What does the iris shape look like on each and at what stop does it show up in the bokeh? How does the bokeh look wide open? How heavy are the S5's - I assume they are lighter than Master Primes? Thanks! *That witness mark on the RPP is ridiculous, seriously. Hi Satsuki, The focus on the Pancros & S5's feel very like the S4's. Iris is 7 leaf on S5, 8 leaf on Pancro. I did not spend long enough playing to say any more sorry. The Pancros are quite light, The S5's a fair bit heavier than S4's. I think I have precise weights at home, I will add tomorrow, The witness mark on the RPP is slightly off on the otherside! Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted September 21, 2009 Author Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2009 Cool Stephen, thank you! Can't wait to play with these puppies now... I did not expect to like the Pancros being T2.8, however after seeing Arri's true 800 ISO chip I think they will be very useful. Apparently Cooke have a huge orders for them. The factory is running 3 shifts 24 hours a day!
A. Whitehouse
The witness mark on the RPP is slightly off on the otherside! Stephen Shot with them a month ago and noticed the same problem! Only a line or two difference but its still different...
