David Bradley
Hello all, I'm looking for a way to keep a phone center frame for an advert I'll be working on. The object must remain secure in the middle of the frame whilst the camera appears to be the POV of a man holding it. Using anything like AE or Shake to track said object without securing it to the camera is out of the question as the object needs to be on the same axis at all times i.e. fixed to the camera. I was thinking of using an Easy Rig and then using magic arms to secure the object. Someones hand will appear to be holding the object so it could conceal the arm if I secure it from behind. Has anyone done this before or seen anything similar? Any tips welcome. D
Scott Fritzshall
I think that your idea of securing it in place with a rig is the way to go. If you're not able to completely cover the rig, you'll have to digitally remove it, so you might want to shoot a clean pass without the phone or rig. David Bradley
Thanks for posting Scott, guess I'll just have to secure it then. I hope magic arms are up to the task, I can't really afford to have any play in the grip but I can't think of any other modular articulated grips that are light enough to fit to a camera. Any ideas? Scott Fritzshall
You might need to make something custom for this, I don't really know what's out there to help you. At the same time, if you do end up getting it 98% correct but still have a little play in there, you can always stabilize that out.
