I'm shooting a short film that mostly has interior, some exterior. I guess what I'm asking is what kind of lights would I need. The movie is split between int nights and ext days(afternoon). What do you think I would need to accommodate that?

Your question is so generic that we can't possibly know what you need. I would say, "some tungsten lights for the indoor scenes and some hmi's and reflectors for the ext.'s" Not much else I can tell you without reading the script and discussing the shots you need.
