It LOOKS like it might have been designed for hand-held work because of it's size and the quick change mags, similar to my 35PII, but the bottom looks flat and it only goes from 8 FPS to 25FPS which also seemed a bit strange to me. Could it have been the predecessor of my PII or maybe the next generation? Why only 25 FPS unless it was used as an effects slow-mo camera of some kind. I have never seen this model of Kinor before and I THOUGHT I had seem almost all of them. It is interesting and there are 2 of thiem for sale. Joe Walker Posted October 7, 2009 Share Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Hey James I was about to post about these as well! Also, I didn't know that you own one of the 35PII's, that's truly awesome. I can't remember which source it was , but I think it was one of the guys from St. Petersburg said that there were only 15 35PII's ever made and then he made some casual mention of some of the other rare models which included the Kinor 7P (which I believe like you said is the predecessor to the 35PII) and then something about a Konvas 4M I think, which is supposed to be a "silent" Konvas. There's also a model of Kinor that looks like a cross between an Arri 35 BL and a Bolex Pro, I've seen that one pop up on ebay now and again as well. James Steven Beverly Posted October 8, 2009 Author Share Posted October 8, 2009 Yeah, Bruce at Aranda has the PII and is doing some work on it at the moment. Olex is working on the mags. As soon as I get them paid for the work they've already done, I'm going to have the electronics upgraded and intend to use it for much of the pricipal photography on Blood Moon Rising. Bruce told me he thought it was a better design than the Konvas and wondered why there weren't more of them built. I really like the look of the 7P as well but my priority is the PII, HOWEVER if by some miracle, they're still available once the PII is completely done and paid for AND I can spare the money from production and getting some other equipment I bought a few years ago shipped here, I would seriously consider getting it and slowly having it put into shape as a back up for the PII. victor huey Posted October 19, 2009 Share Posted October 19, 2009 Hey James, I was wondering what you were doing with that PII body, are you going two perf, with it or keeping to the anamorphic plan? I was wondering how the mags handled? Did you ever get it working, before you sent it off? How loud was the camera if you got it running? Is it a sync camera or an mos one? My Kinor is still sitting at bruce's, waiting for the final step of 2 perf conversion. I need to decide if i am going to convert a 2nd body, since there is no other way to shoot a film, with out a back up body. Red one seems to have taken a lot of steam out of shooting in film in the low bodget indie world. As for my information, this is last design of Russian series of professional cine cameras. This is cameras manufactured at super low lot or experimental lots only. The original name Kinor-35-7P, 7KCP. The camera use for hand held or tripod held shooting with B&W or color film. Can be use at outside studio or inside studio shooting… Designer, Moskow design office “ Kadr”. Manufacturer “ Moskinap- NPO “ Kadr”. The first lot must be make at 1989. The first Kinor-35-7P deliver on Central studio of documentary films ( Moskow ) at 1987. The camera design by order of documentary filmmakers and filmmakers from Central studio of documentary films of Moskow. The specialists from CSDF to take part in create of this project. Low noise camera, 36-38 DB (advertising list ), The user manual wrote : 35 Db inside soft cover and 40 db without cover. Original electronics have crystal sync speed 24 fps and 25 fps, variable speeds ( non crystal sync speed) 1-36 fps . The speed control can be with build in crystal oscillator or outside power signal 50 HZ or outside TV signal. ( similar idea use at Kinor-35H cameras and other ). The shutter disk 172.8 degree. The set of camera – two cases. But, the minimum set of equipments can be at one case. The original set of camera ( advertising list ) included zoom lens 25-80 mm F3.3 OPF-29-1 and 18 mm prime lens. The original lens mount OST-19-144-83 ( Konvas-2M, Kinor-35H specification ) The set of camera can have universal and short viewfinder – 6x, long 6x and 12x. Original battery 12v 1.5ah, can run of 600 m of film at 24 fps. For highs speeds, you need connect two 12 v batteries. ( 24 v ) Size 420 x 235 x 200 mm ( with 60 m magazine ), weight – 6 kg. Interesting but buying a prototype is for me to risky... But the designer in Moskow continue to made camera http://www.mkbk.ru/pr_en/razrabotki.htm look the small on available also in 2 or 4 perforation...and the desing remember the m2 front any idea of the price of this camera?
